Apps Enable or Disable Feed on Widgets Board in Windows 11

This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable news feeds on the widgets board for your account in Windows 11.

Widgets in Windows are interactive elements that display dynamic content and provide quick access to various apps and features. You can view your location's current weather conditions directly on the taskbar and hover over the icon to see concise, scannable information on topics like sports, stocks, local news, and breaking headlines. Widgets are designed to help you staying informed and organized by presenting personalized information at a glance.

Widgets are displayed on the Widgets board, which contains a collection of cards, each representing a widget with relevant information and actions related to an app. On the Widgets board you can discover, pin, unpin, arrange, resize, and customize widgets to reflect your interests.

The Discover feed is the stream of news content displayed on the Widgets board.

Starting with Windows 11 build 26120.3863 (Beta 24H2) and build 26200.5551 (Dev), Microsoft is trying out the ability to read content such as full articles, slideshows, and videos directly within your MSN feed in the widgets board in Windows 11. Try it out and let Microsoft know what you think by using the feedback button at the top of your widgets board. As a reminder, you can manage whether your MSN feed is shown in the widgets board or not directly within the widget settings. Microsoft is beginning to roll this change out to Windows Insiders across all channels.

EXAMPLE: Discover news feed on Widgets board turned on and off

Here's How:

1 Open Widgets (Win+W).

2 Click/tap on the Settings (gear) button at the bottom of the left pane. (see screenshot below)

3 Under Dashboards, turn On (default) or Off the Discover Microsoft Start feed for what you want.

I am using W11 24H2, I am asking if there is a registry key or batch script to delete the news and weather widgets in the left taskbar.I would like to put the tweak directly into the ISO.

You could use a command instead to change the registry values in step 3 of option two of the tutorial below to disable Widgets if wanted.

Any ideas on how to Leave Widgets On but turn off the Feeds option in a default profile / registry sense? I've loaded up ProcMon and turned the feature on and off but can't quite narrow down where this sub-feature setting is actually being stored / changed...
