This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable hidden experimental feature flags in Windows 11.

ViVeTool is an open source tool that can be used to enable hidden features that are part of controlled feature roll-outs or A/B testing in Insider builds of Windows 11.

Starting with Windows 11 build 26220.8148 (Beta 25H2) and build 26300.8155 (Dev 25H2), Microsoft is developing a hidden Feature Flags page in Settings to make it easier to turn on or off hidden features. If you don't have this (Option One) available in these builds yet and would like to try it now, then you can use the vivetool /enable /id:60911173 command with Option Two to enable this.

You must be signed in as administrator to enable or disable hidden feature flags.

Contents

  • Option One: Enable or Disable Hidden Feature Flags in Settings
  • Option Two: Enable or Disable Hidden Feature Flags using ViVeTool

Option One

Enable or Disable Hidden Feature Flags in Settings

1 Open Settings (Win+I).

2 Click/tap on Windows Update on the left side, and click/tap on Windows Insider Program on the right side. (see screenshot below)

Feature_flags_Settings-1.webp

3 Click/tap on Feature Flags. (see screenshot below)

Feature_flags_Settings-2.webp

4 Select No Override, Disabled (default), or Enabled for any available feature flags you want, and click/tap on Apply Changes. (see screenshots below)

Feature_flags_Settings-3.webp
Feature_flags_Settings-3b.webp

5 Click/tap on Restart now to apply. (see screenshot below)

This will immediately restart the computer. Be sure to save and close everything first.

Option Two

Enable or Disable Hidden Feature Flags using ViVeTool

1 Click/tap on ViVeTool-v0.3.4-SnapdragonArm64.zip (ARM64) or ViVeTool-v0.3.4-IntelAmd.zip (64-bit) at the link below to download the latest version of ViveTool for your device's system type. (see screenshot below)

ViveTool_download.webp

2 Select the location (ex: "Desktop") where you want to save the ZIP file above to, and click/tap on Save. (see screenshot below)

ViveTool_save.png

3 Unblock the downloaded ZIP file. (see screenshot below)

ViveTool_unblock.png

4 Extract All the downloaded ZIP file. (see screenshot below step 5)

5 Copy as path the ViveTool.exe file from the extracted ZIP. (see screenshot below)

ViveTool.png

6 Open Windows Terminal (Admin), and select Command Prompt.

7 Type the command below to enable or disable a hidden feature into the elevated command prompt, and press Enter. (see screenshots below)

(Enable hidden feature)
<full path of ViVeTool.exe> /enable /id:<feature ID>

OR

(Disable feature)
<full path of ViVeTool.exe> /disable /id:<feature ID>

OR

(Undo all custom feature configurations)
<full path of ViVeTool.exe> /fullreset

Substitute <full path of ViVeTool.exe> in the command above by pasting (Ctrl+V) the full path of the ViveTool.exe file from step 5.

Substitute <feature ID> with the actual feature ID number (ex: "41040327") for the feature (ex: "Gallery in File Explorer") you want to enable or disable.

For example:
"C:\Users\Brink\Desktop\ViVeTool-v0.3.3\ViVeTool.exe" /enable /id:41040327

You can use Open with "Just once" the FeatureDictionary.pfs file from the extracted ZIP (step 4) with Notepad to see a list of available feature IDs.

FeatureDictionary.pfs-1.png FeatureDictionary.pfs-2.png

ViveTool_command.png
Remove_all_ViVeTool.png

8 If you used the "Removes all custom feature configurations" command, then type Y when prompted to confirm.

9 Restart the computer to apply.

That's it,
Shawn Brink

The new undockable Copilot experience which lets it act like a normal application window in build 26080 can be enabled with this ViVeTool command (thanks, @a_donglee ):

vivetool /enable /id:47526251

These lock screen cards will be coming to Windows 11 as well, they are rolling out in 22631.3371 (KB5035942). Like in the Windows 10 update, there is no way to pick and choose which of the 4 cards you want, it's all or none.

You'll need to run the command in a Command Prompt instead of PowerShell.

Oh! Cool. Thanks! I'm going to search for the differences between those screens.

I removed OneDrive because it's been causing me problems. But now the directions in the tutorial don't work. There isn't any "copy path" option on the drop-down menu.

Looks to me like you have other issues to deal with first. Try running these steps before attempting to use ViVe Tool.

*Also, if I am to understand this thread correctly ViVe Tool is still in development so you use it at your own risk. Methinks it is bound to have some bugs as it is still in its experimental phase.

I'm running DISM now. Seems to be stuck at 62.3%. [==============62.3%==== ] _

Is that normal? I'm inclined not to do anything and see what the system does. But how long do I wait?

:smirk: That is the million dollar question. It really varies and is contingent upon how messed up your system could be. Be patient. I would recommend closing out of all running applications that you have open and just let it run its course. Perhaps I should have warned you about that first, but it is definitely something worth doing.

DISM has finished running. I should have known to close all of the other programs. But it's finished. Below is the screenshot. Should I close out of the programs and run it again?

It will pause at 62.3% if you do indeed have errors (You Do). How long will probably depend on how many and how big but eventually it will finish, just hang tight while it repairs.

That makes sense. After it finished I closed the programs and reran DISM. Naturally, it finished much quicker. Then I ran System
File Checker. It found and fixed problems. I've attached a screenshot. But I thought DISM was a more comprehensive error-checking program. Doesn't it do what System File Checker does plus some other things?
