I want to keep the recent history on the "Home" area but I don't need it on the "Start" area or the "Jump List". Is there a way to keep it on the "Home" area but remove it from the "Start" area and the "Jump List".

I disabled this via registery but then I was not able to re-enable it

What's going on? I have the jump list turned on, everything else is working (the recent folder and the office thing is all fine). Only the recent files is not working

Hello, :-)

As a test, restart the computer to see if enable gets applied afterwards.

If you cleared your recent history, then it may take a bit to start repopulating.

No, something is definitely up.

Not one item has shown up and I have restarted more than once.

New recent folders keep coming up in the "quick access" sub section, but in the mean time nothing under "Recent" other than external link to office.com stuff (stuff uploaded to Microsoft online)

You can test toggling Show recently opened items in Start, Jump Lists, and File Explorer off and on to see if that may kick start it.

Did that and waited for days — it was of no consequence.

It is odd that your recent files are not appearing even though turned on and enabled.

I assume your recent items are also not appearing in Jump Lists?

Windows updated to KB5017271 and KB5019509. I had a shortcut for Recent Folders and Recent Items in the Quick Access but WIndows removed them. I added them back.

It's frustrating that Windows won't allow us to return back to the "good old days" when we want to save a file, Recent Folders appears as an option. Still, it's lacking in the latest reiteration of Windows 11 despite Microsoft claiming they made improvements to File Explorer with the latest update.

Microsoft goons always been bad faith actors but they have gotten worse. Windows 11 is harbinger of what is to come. They clearly don't like the freedom. Microsft wants its own Apple style controlled evironment aka prison.

Hello QuasarX, :alien:

The setting is referenced at the location as well, but changing the setting in option one still toggles the location in option two.
