This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable startup boost for Microsoft Edge for your account or all users in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

The Microsoft Edge web browser is based on Chromium and was released on January 15, 2020. It is compatible with all supported versions of Windows, and macOS. With speed, performance, best in class compatibility for websites and extensions, and built-in privacy and security features.

To improve Microsoft Edge startup speed, Microsoft has developed a feature called startup boost. Startup boost keeps the browser running in the background with minimal processes, so Microsoft Edge will start more quickly when launched. Microsoft Edge will start more quickly when it is launched from the taskbar, desktop, or from hyperlinks embedded in other applications when you sign in after device startup or the browser is closed.

Startup boost keeps the browser running in the background with minimal processes when the browser is closed, which has a limited impact on device resource usage. Startup boost does not add any additional resources when browser windows are already open.

Startup boost starts core Microsoft Edge processes in the background to keep them ready when the browser is closed, so Microsoft Edge will start more quickly when launched.

I was wondering why in the world would someone want this, and just this second(after months of it being there), I think I figured it out.
If you use Edge web apps(like I do on my Linux Mint system for Outlook and Teams which are set to run in the background at startup) they'll also open faster when closed, and that can be important to users.
