When I try to change the user account picture, I get this error: Error Code: 0x80070520

But if I go back to the user accounts the picture would've actually changed. What's going on here?

I tried these commands but they don't fix the issue:

It's probably just something MS missed.
If the picture changes... don't worry about it. :-)

It's been over 2 years, but I seem to remember something about there's two different Account avatar pics, and one of them is broken?

Mine does the same thing... (I tried .png and .bmp... .bmp worked but still gave the error)
Maybe try .jpg? Nope, .jpg throws the same error.

One is supposed to appear on the Accounts page, the other is supposed to appear on the Your Info page and the bottom left of the START Menu. I think they're just different sizes of the same pic.

There's also the pic at top center of the System page... that should show the Desktop background.

So I just copied the corresponding files to “%ProgramData%\Microsoft\User Account Pictures” folder.

I did, and I get the error.
However, MS has had problems with the account picture... since back in 2018-ish, on Win 10 also.
This is not a new issue. It's slightly different, but it's still just plain broken.
MS has been "working on a resolution" for 6 years now. LOL

It seems like every few months, they change how the error presents itself.
But, it's been happening in one form or another for 6 years.

This issue will probably end up in the same bin as the "can't quite get sleep working properly" problem. :D

Yep, MS does not care much about local accounts, if you change MSA picture online, it changes everywhere automatically.

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
You could go to “%ProgramData%\Microsoft\User Account Pictures” and delete all the pictures there, come out of file explorer, change the account picture through settings and choosing your picture from any folder.
