So this message has been randomly popping up ever since the previous build (.856). sfc /scannow came back clean. This one showed up while the computer was just sitting idle, no apps running. Anyone know what this even means?

Something is obviously attempting to kill the devicecensus.exe process with the wrong command line switch. I would get a Sysmon trace and check what is opening a command prompt shell.

Does devicecensus.exe even exist in the System32 directory on your machine?

I just turned that off on W10 and W11.
I haven't seen any issues after disabling it.

The secret to any version of Windows, is great backups.
With a fresh backup, you can "try" anything. If you break Windows... just restore from a backup. :-)
