Windows 11
Hello,

Almost every day I come across these "ESENT" entries of information in the Windows 11 logs.
They often appear after Playstore application updates and when I leave my PC inactive for a while.

Do you know if this is a malfunction ? or is this normal ?

DSIM or sfc/scannow makes no difference.

"svchost (5776,P,98) DS_Token_DB: Database engine (10.00.22631.0000) starts a new instance (0)"

"svchost (5776,R,98) DS_Token_DB: Database engine starts recovery procedure"

"svchost (5776,R,98) DS_Token_DB: The database engine has finished replaying the log file C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\DataSharing\Storage\DSS0001A.log"

"svchost (5776,R,98) DS_Token_DB: The database engine has finished replaying the log file C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppDataLocal\DataSharing\Storage\DSS.log"

"svchost (5776,U,98) DS_Token_DB: Database engine has completed recovery procedure"

"svchost (5776,D,0) DS_Token_DB: The database engine has started a new instance (0). (Duration =0 seconds)"

"svchost (5776,D,50) DS_Token_DB: The database engine has attached a database (1, C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppDataLocal\DataSharing\Storage\DSTokenDB2.dat). (Duration =0 seconds)"

It's normal. Those are informational events only. There are hundreds of thousands of informational events every day.
Unless one wants to go insane, the best advice I can give is to use the event viewer for it's intended purpose only, a tool to troubleshoot a system and application issue. For your sanity, stay away from EV unless you are having problems.

Reliability Monitor can be used to monitor hard faults and even then should be used with common sense to troubleshoot hard problems that continue to occur. Many (most)times, Windows can falter and recover gracefully without any needed intervention from the user.

If you're not having problems, quit trying to find one to worry about.

Thank you for your comprehensive reply and I'm sorry if I've offended you, but I'm curious and I like to know how things work.

If all goes well and you don't notice any problems with ESENT, I'm delighted and I'm closing this topic.

Yes, and that's nice of him, but it's far from madness, it's just curiosity. There's no need to make a big deal of it.
In fact, I now understand that this line corresponds to the Windows automatic cleaning task that runs when the PC is idle, and which emits these lines of ESENT information.
That's all there is to it.
Thank you for your attention.

Definitely no offense taken here and it was not my intention to offend anyone either. I respect your curiosity. I intended to only make a point that the event viewer is a deep dark place where so many informational events happen that are reported in MS speak, most times there is no way to determine what task within Windows is reporting the event.
