Well, wouldn't you know it. The technician has cancelled and it doesn't look like I'll be getting fibre right away. Road conditions have been bad and we've been getting a lot of freezing rain up here, in the GWN. I'm almost surprised we still have snow all over the place with all the rain we've been getting. I don't imagine forest fires will be on the agenda this year. At least that's one good thing. :)

Where I live I was surprised when the cable company at the time decide to run cable to my area of town. The company has been sold a few times and is now owned by Comcast. What really made it bad was their timing. They didn't decide to run cable until after I invested $4,500.00 and 5 years of payments to pay it off. I doubt very much if they ever run Fiber to the area.

I called up Northern Lights to see what the hold up was and they're giving me a free month because of the delay. This will help with the transition. Looks like I signed up with a good company. Meanwhile my current ISP suddenly mysteriously dropped the price and I'm getting closer to the speed I'm paying for. Interesting. I'm still going to go with Northern Lights of course.

Those yellow streaks in the snow didn't come from incontinent huskies. They're painted land marks indicating the gas line so that the fibre company know precisely where not to tunnel. The rain has taken down the snow considerably. Last month it was right up to the edge of the trampoline. We will likely be getting more snow but for the time being freezing rain is still on the forecast.
Not sure if they have enough optical cable to reach to the front of the house. I suppose I'll find out next Monday.
