Define Stable.. it's as close to stable as it can be at this point of it's life cycle.

Only defect (liveable with unlike the case of W2K22 server trial) is that openssh -server won't install (from the add optional features) but I suppose that will get fixed in due course.

Like you, I have some older devices I need to access. I've found that all my installs so far (VM or physical, clean or upgrade) have had SMB1 enabled, along with the auto-removal (which I turn off).

My one gripe is that you can't click and drag a bunch of files from Explorer, then hover over a running app on the taskbar to open its window and drop the files into it to open them. The click-drag-drop works fine if you already have the windows open and can see them, it's the taskbar's 'hover to bring to the front' that's missing. Works in Win10, hopefully will be reinstated for Win11.

Hi, CountMike, looky what I found . . .


I have found three methods of opening Task Manager in Windows 11.

Method 1: Use WinX Menu
Right click Start to open WinX, then click/tap Task Manager

Method 2: Use Task Manager Shortcut
Using Hot Keys, click/tap Ctrl+Shift+Escape

Method 3: Use Windows Search
1. Click/tap the Search icon to open Search
2. Start typing Task Manager (it should be the first result)
Press/tap Enter

Hi Wynona, I'm afraid those faults I found was in unofficial W11, all of those now work properly in latest version.

Do you have a better way to get to Task Manager than what I found? I'm not completely sold on any one of them.

Those were from a cursory search, and I didn't look further.

Right click on Start button and it's there.

Only difference is that it's on Start button instead of on Taskbar itself to which we are all used to. Once I'm on W11 all the time I'll get used to it. Muscle memory is funny thing, I bloody know well that Start button is centered but look for it in left corner. That's just on of things. Looking thru settings also feel funny.

Exactly! Same here. Shawn has created a tutorial for moving things to the left side of the taskbar.


I will move mine (again) so I can put my most used apps on the taskbar to the right of everything else.

I'm not moving anything, I know I will get used to it eventually. If we could get used to jumping all the way from DOS, this would seem natural in no time. Just got to use it long enough.

I defaulted my Taskbar back to the left side. Kept mousing to the left to reach for the Start button

I take it for some method #1 stopped working? I never had a problem accessing the Task Manager by right clicking on the Start icon.

Hate that, Mike...bummer. I have to say that all of those are working fine with no problems here. There's no task Manager in the taskbar like there was in Win10--good news is that simply right-clicking on the taskbar Start icon will bring up the Task Manager amid a cluster of other OS programs. Widgets is where Microsoft is unloading all that News and Interests stuff--although it may not be called that anymore. Running Magician 6.3 without any problems. RealTek Sound console present and accounted for--functioning properly. Also I was just notified that my PCIe4 boot drive, the Samsung 9800 Pro is in need of a bios update. After I sign off on this message I will install it. Later...

I've have used the right click on the Start icon for so long I don't even think of any other way to get the menu to pop up.

do windows 11 need more space than Windows 10 to install.

No. If anything, I've found that a full install of Windows 11 is generally a little smaller than the same install of Windows 10.
