External NVME (SSD type M2) drives -- Really fast backup 300 GB -- 11 Mins

Hi folks
It's really worth considering those NVME external adapters - the M2 SSD type -- especially now 2TB NVME storage is so cheap.

Just did a "Bog standard" copy of 300GB of various folders and data types via bog standard Windows (file ) explorer to one of these connected to a laptop -- not even by a USBC connector but an older USB3 connector -- used USBC->USB3 thing too - and the whole kybosh was still completed in less than 12 Mins.

Here's the thing after about 7 mins of copying

For all sorts of varied file types on an OLD 8 year old laptop that shouldn't even be running W11 -- not too bad --can't complain.

In English -- Nr of items 19,903, % complete 74%, current file tumbleweed.vdi, Time left 3min 30 sec,items left 459 (70.7GB)

Good thinking, I already use a Samsung 970EVO 1TB in a very slender USB case, easily pocketable. I use it for diagnostic programs and some portable apps.

Fast compared to an HDD, but normal for a USB 5G (USB 3.0) link, and not representative of NVMe speeds, which can only be exploited with a USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 link.
