Hi all, I posted this a while ago and I'm updating this since Win11 22H2 was released. I have a Dell laptop (Windows 11 Home 22H2 with latest updates and Intel Thunderbolt Controller) with RTX3060 graphics card connected to an external Dell monitor via thunderbolt. I'm using Nvidia driver version 512.95. In this scenario everything works stable and fine. Problem is that whenever I try to update the Nvidia driver to any later version (including current version 31.0.15.1748), the external Dell monitor is not detected, and the only way to have Windows 11 detect the external monitor is to roll back to Nvidia driver 512.95. This issue is not present in Windows 10, i.e., the external thunderbolt Dell monitor is detected with ANY Nvidia driver. I have extensively googled for any hints, but other than the obvious ones I did not find anything helpful. Thanks for any feedback.

This is a fairly random suggestion, but do you have Geforce Experience installed? I don't recall it causing your issue, but it has had other issues with 22H2.

If you have it, you could try uninstalling it.

There is an updated version of it available for download, which is supposed to fix some issues. Geforce Experience 9-27-2022

Thanks bobkn but I never install Geforce Experience or Nvidia HD Audio drivers, I always custom install performing a clean installation, choosing only the Drivers and PhysX components.

I have the exact same issue. Dell G15 5511. I think it's more a Dell issue. I can get version 513.38 working if I download it from dells website for the G15 5520.

Maybe need the Nvidia driver from Dell, may be a difference.

I haven't tested Dell's drivers, and yes, they could work, but manufacturer's drivers are many versions behind the official Nvidia's, so I always install the latest drivers from each component (Intel, Nvidia, etc).

I agree, but maybe there's some registry hack or tweak that could fix the issue. Anyway I'm about to give up and "upgrade" Windows 11 to Windows 10 which is more stable and tested and everything works fine.

UPDATE: There was no fix for this issue other than reverting back to Windows 10, glad I did it
