Facebook help

Sorry but this might be a long post. I had a Facebook account for over 15 years. Last fall I started getting messages that Facebook didn't know my device. Back then I could click on a “this is me” button and another button to remember. This went on till the first of 2025 and then Facebook would direct me to the “create new password” page when I clicked on the“it's me” button. Then I started having problems with Facebook Messenger. I could send out a message to my contacts but I could NOT see their reply! Tried to contact Facebook to report that “issue”but that got no place. I figured my account had gotten hacked so I deleted it


Now I need an account on Facebook because some information I need is on there (I am the VP of a Retirees group and on forum on Facebook have info I need to email the retirees). But now when I try to create a new Facebook account I get denied. I have tried a email that I did not use with Facebook before and even have used my First and middle name instead of my first and last name. So far no luck. Facebook just does NOT want me to create another account. Anybody have any hints as to how I can open a Facebook account? And using a smart phone is NOT an option. We don't have one (no cell service where I live). I am using Windows 11 Pro.

Create another email address with either outlook.com or gmail.com. Then create another FB account using it.

I already tried that. It didn't work.

What reason was given why you could not. I'm talking about creating a new FB account from scratch, using a slightly differnt name. (like adding middle initiial)

Meta (Facebook) is quite clever in identifying people, after all, people feed almost everything about themselves to it.

Next time you’re with family or a friend, try creating the new account on their computer.
Use a variation of your name (as you tried) use one of the different email addresses that you have.

Don't use any identifiable info like date of birth or other personal information that you have used previously.

Use a different browser if you can, I've had no issues setting up multiple FB accounts.

Has the 30 day period until your old account is deleted, expired yet?

People confuse being spoofed on Facebook, with being hacked.
If you were able to delete your account, you wern’t hacked, if you were hacked you wouldn’t have been able to gotten in to delete it.

Which brings me to ask, how did you delete your account if you couldn’t log in?

Were you sending and trying to view messages via Messenger in you browser (Via Facebook)?

Did you try their standalone Messenger Windows desktop app?

I did wait 30 days after I deleted my old account. Didn't help. The messenger I used was the one in Facebook. And I logged into Facebook by going to the Facebook page (no Facebook app on my computer). Still can not create a new account. I might try using my wifes name and an email I have not used with facebook. I've even read that I should try a VPN. need more feedback on the VPN idea.

I am not sure that Facebook will give you a chance when using a VPN, sites more than often know. But you can try.

When I said 30 days, I meant has the 30 day grace period expired, is your account now deleted for good?
Still cvant work out how you deleted your account if you couldn’t log in?

When you’re creating an account, try a different browser as @z3r010 suggested.
I was able to (before I ditched Facebook) log into multiple Facebook accounts at a time if I was using a different browser for each account

FB is basically linked to a phone number (WhatsApp, SMS), so you need to use a different one. Buy eSIM?

When I tried to create a new account I never entered a phone number (remember I use a computer, I have NO smart phone). And I was able to log in to my old account Antspants before I deleted it (had to use a strange way to get there).

I have been doing a bit of looking around on the Net and I was wondering if it might be better for me to run the Facebook app from the Microsoft Store to create my new Facebook account. Any feed back/ideas.

@snikr, I was able tog into my Facebook with GMail. If you have that, look at the "social" icon on the left top of your mail.

I looked and mine is not there on Firefox.

One last question to ask. When I tried to create my new Facebook account it let me create on but denied it and said something after 180 days it would be deleted. Now should I wait that 180 days before I try to create a new Facebook account?
