Win 11 Home build 22631.2191 ver 23H2
Since the Windows update files have been installed, (I have them on auto), I have had issues with File Explorer not updating when I do stuff. I have to refresh every time to keep up. I have also noticedtoday that when I copy and paste, my paste, pastes the last copy I did. When I delete that paste then it pastes my new paste.(hope that makes sense).

Suggestions here. Many reports across the web have connected the issue to Onedrive. The method in this article unlinks onedrive but leaves your files there..
There is another procedure if you want to get your files back on your PC. Report back if you need help doing that.

Glasskuter, thanks for your suggestions. I did already unlink my Onedrive and the problems were still there. I have installed Explorer Patcher and this seems to have fixed all the issues I mentioned in my original post. Thanks again for your help. Your response was very quick.

You have a Refresh problem and you need to refresh the folder-file list manually by pressing the F5 key or right-clicking & selecting Refresh.
This problem has existed for decades.
It comes & goes of its own accord.
There is no cure.

I reboot my computers every day & I think that reduces the frequency of Refresh problems.
But I might be kidding myself.

Don't waste any time investigating this.
I wasted a month of my life looking for a solution but nothing fixes it.
You'll find that doing some action will make the problem go away for a while but it's not a solution because when the problem returns the same action will have no effect this time.

Denis, thanks for your reply. I have installed EP and that seems to have solved my issues for now. I will keep you informed if it reverts back. If the issue persists I will abandon the File Manager and use a 3rd party software such as DirOpus.

Minitools has compiled the most common work arounds that I have seen on the net. I have also experienced this and no sooner that it appeared, I recall it disappearing. I can’t remember which of these if any worked for me. It’s been a while. All I can remember is that it is most inconvenient.
