I am on a Windows 11 PC with the native dark theme enabled. For some reason, an old style light colored menu bar keeps appearing in the File Explorer and I don't know what is causing it. At boot it won't be there, then suddenly there it is. Open Shell Menu 4.4.160 is installed to add an alternative start menu button, but I don't know it well enough to tell whether it is responsible for this:

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Exiting Open Shell Menu doesn't remove the bar, for one.

There's a newer version of OpenShell available 4.4.191 but it isn't the cause of your issue as that popped up randomly here until i reverted to the win 10 explorer.

On your system, I can only guess!
But, I have a similar anomaly involving StartAllBack or QTTabBar, or both, where I cannot collapse or hide the bar completely...

If you grab the vertical dotted line, can you move, hide or collapse it in any way?

@Edwin Thanks for thinking along. I missed your reply and tried this:

Delete ITBar7Layout in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\ShellBrowser. It seems to have worked, but I'll have to wait and see.

Regarding the menu bar, I could lock it and that turned the menu bar into a line: See case on answers.microsoft

Redirecting then I tried the solution above. But we'll see.

90% sure it won’t work anymore, but worth a shot, just in case

*also, are you using any other tools to mod your windows?

I used to have this bug, but it went away for me, at least since I upgraded to 23H2...

Have a look at this thread:

There´s a reg file to remove the bar, I remember using something like this back then when I had this issue...

See if it helps!
