Solved File Explorer seems slower than it used to be?

Windows 11 23H2 Build 22631.4602
StartAllBack v3.8.13 is installed.

Maybe I am imagining it but does anyone else think File Explorer takes longer to show folder contents in the right-hand pane than it used to, say 8 months ago? I say 8 months, which is just a guess as to how long I have been seeing this but I am only just now asking the question.

The left-hand Explorer folder tree expands very quick to show sub-folders but clicking on a folder and waiting to see the folder contents in right-hand pane is where it seems slow. The time from clicking on a folder to seeing the contents of that folder in the right-hand pane can be from 2 to 9 seconds. I am sure it used to be almost instant (no more than 2 seconds) around 8 months or more ago.

Or, is my memory wrong and 2 to 9 seconds is normal?

The drive is an SSD and CrystalDiskInfo shows the drive as healthy. See photo.
I have run the tuneup.bat file and everything reports as okay. No integrity violations and no component store corruption. No disk errors from chkdsk.
There is plenty free space on the drive. Compression is turned off and file indexing is turned on. See photo.

I don't know what has happened but now my pasted text has appeared. Maybe because I cleared my Firefox cache and restarted FF.
Sorry for the confusion. I have now deleted the PDF in #1 and here is another photo.

Perform clean boot state to find out if any boot up third-party programs or services causing the slow-down.

Thanks but that seems a lot of hassle for what is an irritation that I can live with. I was hoping for an easier fix. I'll do some more research tomorrow.

An easier fix??? A clean boot is not a fix. It's a troubleshooting step to prove whether or not windows has a conflict with 3rd party software. It fixes nothing and takes about 2 minutes to do.

Mine is just about instant, always has been.

You have system mods installed, I have none.

Looking at your image of StartAllBack configuration, that would be an obvious candidate.
Clean Boot may give you an answer to that or something else, but I doubt you would take any action required anyway.

You're probably right.
I may give the clean boot a try but I am getting lazy as I approach 80 years old. I'll wait until I am in the mood.

Thanks for all answers. I think I fixed it. There were two issues: -

1. StartAllBack - So I disabled it.
2. The service Windows Search was disabled and 'Stopped' so I started it and changed the startup type to Automatic.

Folder contents now display faster. Previously it took up to 9 seconds. Now it is about 2 seconds.
