I've been using WIndows 11 on a Beelink miniPC for years. And I've also had it on my work laptop for a few years as well.

My desktops at home (mine, wife's and son's......all hardware compatible) have still been running on Windows 10 because I wasn't having any problems and they were working just fine. However, the looming Oct 14, 2025 (happens to be my birthday) is coming soon. And i read the recent story online about how Microsoft will NOT be supporting Office365 apps any longer on Windows 10 after the Oct 14, 2025 deadline....so just more incentive to finally get this done.

Today, I downloaded the latest 24H2 Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft. Ran the PC Health Check app and found that on my PC and my wife's PC, it was saying we were not compatible because we didn't have TPM 2.0. Went into the BIOS and noticed i had it set to discreet hardware in the AMD CPU fTPM settings. I changed those to firmware, and both of our PC's passed the health check.

I took a Macrium image of the wife's computer, then proceeded to do the update from the ISO file. Upgrade was smooth, done in less than 30 minutes. One error about a driver not being able to load ene.sys, which online seems to be related to some sort of RGB thing. But her mouse, keyboard, mobo, RAM and fans are all lit up and all of those apps are working properly. I just went in and renamed C:\windows\system32\drivers\ene.sys to ene-orig.sys. Rebooted and all of her RGB stuff is working, device manager is clean and all seems well. No errors, problems ,or otherwise....so assuming that must have been from something older that we aren't really using anymore. I updated her Ryzen chipset drivers, as I haven't upgraded those since I built the computer about 4 years ago.

Going to just play with it for a few days and then will likely start the journey on my desktop. I mostly run VM's and play games on it, so just don't want to break any of my gaming stuff.
