Well, there's still people in my area that are up in arms about the prospect of having to buy a new PC/Lappy. I'd say of all the ones I've looked at, about 60%, (maybe slightly more) were able to run 11 after a few tweaks as mentioned online.

What I don't understand is why MS is doing this with the supposedly needed firmware to run 11. Are they in cahoots with the PC manufacturers?

BTW, interesting note, when I got this new PC 1 1/2 yrs ago from Dell, I was wondering if they still offered 10 as on OS option, so I checked. Yes, they would put 10 on the machine...for an additional $125. What?

I recently upgraded my Win 10 desktop to Win 11 using rufus. It went smoothly and successfully. But what really surprised me was the screen that greeted me a screen or two into the upgrade saying that my system was not supported and Microsoft strong warned that the upgrade may not work out, but if I wanted to proceed click the OK button below acknowledging that you were warned, and then you can proceed with the upgrade. How about that for Microsoft's tacit approval to install Win 11 on unsupported equipment!. I should have taken a picture of that screen!!

I don't know why they trying to leave 240 million pcs to trash while many capable of run w11 easily. I have ram and ssd upgraded 2nd gen i7 hp dv6 from 2011 and my computer runs windows 11 smoother than all other operating system lol. I love it. No crash no heat, no lag issue nothing..at least i was expecting one incompatible driver but from graphic card to fingerscan to beats audio to camera all working fine. It also receive system and security updates regularly.

Can someone explain me how this happens?

Am I gonna face any possible issue if i upgrade to 25h2?

When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

My System Two (in My Computers below) runs 24H2 on a 1st gen i5 with no problems, it also multi-boots the latest Insider builds.

I have no significant driver issues, but its graphics driver is too old to be compatible with turning on Core Isolation/Memory Integrity.

25H2 is a simple enablement package that turns on dormant 25H2 features that are already in the 24H2 code. Once 25H2 goes on release it should be available to download from the News forum here at Eleven Forum, as was the case with the 23H2 enablement package.

Bit over the top, isn't it? Damage? Any upgrade has an outside chance of going so wrong that the PC is un-bootable, maybe even bricking the PC. I suppose that MS are just absolving themselves from any blame.

I'd seen that disclaimer before on web pages from Microsoft, and elsewhere quoted by others. But 24H2 was the first to show it in Windows Setup when doing an upgrade. I just looked for my post from last year with the screenshot.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.
