By using Firefox's built-in paid VPN, you'd be helping them out financially. If you believe in helping Mozilla out this way, then it's for a good cause.

Why? Proton VPN Free has been available for some time. It also has no limits on transfers, but I obviously haven't taxed it that much anyway. I have done a few gigabytes through it without any issues, and it was quite speedy as well. Sure, they'd like you to upgrade to their paid version, but they don't push it.

That strategy is only potentially effective if there are no free alternatives; in this case there are, e.g., Proton and Windscribe.

Good point! There are free VPN services that protect the whole system too. It just depends on what you need.

Sure, there are 'free' out there. But as I said before, there's really no such thing as 'free'. You will pay, somehow. Either through a later subscription, or the 'free VPN' selling your data to someone, and maybe pushing ads and inserting spyware on you.

They have to make money somehow. Even the bad ones have to make money. Life ain't a bowl of cherries and they somehow live off air alone, ya know...
