Flashes to blue screen on right click.

I did the in place upgrade yesterday.

Wild guess now... Do you have your laptop in tablet mode? Could you fill out your computer specs under system specs in your account?

Its a desktop. Yes will do re specs.

Just had Microsoft take over my PC and see the problem. He basically said its a new system and it'll be great and these things happen but get ironed out. He didn't make any changed but after he logged out the right click was back to normal. I would bet anything that if I reboot the problem will be back. It was fine up to closing down last night and was back this morn ing.

To prove whether your problem is in the operating system or some driver or software, try performing a clean boot. Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 11 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts Tutorial Since this seems to happen after you first boot up,try booting several times in clean boot.

+Have done the clean boot and still have the problem.
Any way to roll back to 10 without losing installed programs.

Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:

dism /online /get-osuninstallwindow

If error 1168 is seen then there is no go back option remaining using Windows.

There was a thread in which someone had reported using an old iso.

Maybe somebody remembers the name of the thread.

Error 1168. But I can install 10 if I put up with losing programs is that right?

Weirdly the right click on desktop now produces the context menu. If I reboot I'll be back to the issue again.
I ran tweaking.com 's windows repair this morning afterwards I rebooted. I then checked the right click and still had the usual blue screen. 10 minutes later its all working properly.

That's right. It will put you back to out of box experience. No programs (except for what comes with Windows). No personal files. Be sure to back up your personal files before you begin.
Use this tutorial. After step 13, skip to step 15. Make sure that Windows is installed on unallocated space. Clean Install Windows 10
Windows will install most, if not all of the drivers. You have not completed your specs section on this forum so I do not know anything about your computer, but if it is an OEM system go to the official support site to find any drivers that might be missing, such as your sound driver.

If you have any problems, post on the Windows 10 support forum. Ten Forums - Windows 10 Help and Support Forum Most of the folks here on this forum are on that one as well.

After many days of fiddling i have FINALLY figured out the right clicking issue. Under settings-system-about-advanced system settings-advanced tab-performance setting button-"Animate Controls & Elements Inside Windows" box must be checked.

Close file explorer & reopen it...now you should be able to right click away on anything all you want again.

Just thought I'd give it one last try before shutting down for the night and the right click menu is back. It came back last night just before closing it. It won't be working in the morning.

Can anyone explain how such a fault can be intermittent? I didn't do anything other than play scrabble in chrome!

Event log for period it startyed working if it means anything to anyone?

Windows 10 can be installed by backing up files followed by a clean install.

A custom install where windows creates a new windows.old may be another option.

Now rather bizarrely the right click menu has worked all day today and I've made no changes for this to happen.
