check your drives if any are wd, it will not install, even if it is a wd drive for programs /games i removed the wd drive and install took 20 min, i also renamed the anti cheat folder to .old

So if you removed the WD NVMe drive, what did you install Windows 24H2 on?
And if you wern’t installing it on the WD NVMe drive, why did you need to remove it?

The issue affects certain new models of WD SSDs. My WD SSD (different model, see 2nd system specs) and two WD HDDs had not issue upgrading to 24H2. My first attempt by just disconnecting from the internet and running setup /product server was not successful, probably because some background application interfered. For my second attempt I disabled all startup applications, all non-Microsoft services and some devices (LAN, sound, Bluetooth, TV tuner), just in case, and then disconnected from the internet and ran setup /product server. It succeeded. I didn't have to remove any of my WD HDDs to upgrade. Thanks God my SSD is not one of the affected models.

i have just ordered 2x WD Blue SN580 1TB NVMe SSD's and everything i have read states that dont have a problem with 24H2.
they should be here end of the week so i will do a clean install of the 2 systems that they are going in to and report back later.

i will, i also have on order a NVMe USB caddy which arrives sometime next week and WD dashboard is already downloaded.

Every SSD in my PC is a Samsung, my first one was an 840 Pro. I still have it as an external drive.
Now I run Samsung NVMe drives and my USB external drive is a T7 Touch

I only have two Samsung 860 EVO 500GB ...2.5" SSDs. One for Win 10, the other for Win 11.

Samsung makes ALL the parts, in-house, for their SSDs.
They've got no one else to blame if things go wrong.
That's a powerful incentive for a company to... 'build things properly'.

That's why I always buy Samsung SSDs.

Side note: For storage drives, I always get Western Digital Black HDDs.
They just don't seem to break.

I was given a password locked Samsung SSD still under Warranty and of course, I could not use it. I filled an RMA form with Samsung and I sent it at their expense! It was replaced with a new sealed SSD! VERY good support. Also compatible with almost all computers and laptops unlike some Crucial and other lesser known models.

i found it out by trying to install 24h2, on my intel system the wd drive was only for games/programs i tried updating wd firmware, still did not work simplier for me to remove the wd nvme, transfer games to another samsung drive and add a 3rd samsung drive i was using upgrade install. anti cheat is game related the os was always on a samsung drive 24h2 installed on amd system and games all work

LOL. Ironically, I have found Samsung SSDs to be the LEAST reliable SSDs I have ever used. They have suffered multiple bizarre firmware issues across various models.

To Samsungs credit, they have always addressed these issues rapidly and when there are no FW issues, they run great.

This is just my experience - maybe I just got unlucky. Your milage may vary

i believe the 1TB WD blue SN5800 are not affected only the 2TB are.
but i will update the firmware on them before i use them.

also my systems are sata 3 these are sata 4 so should run a littler cooler and slower
but i also have light weight heat sinks coming for them.

this is about the last upgrade i can do to these 2 HP AiO systems but they should out life me.
