Frequent, but irregular, Windows system sounds from computer

My HP desktop makes occasional (about every 15 seconds) system sounds while running- but not when being actively used. Any suggestions on how I might track down the source of the sounds?

@dacrone First time I've used the Event Viewer. <newb alert> I have attached a log (as a ZIP file; if no good, please advise), and hope you may be able to interpret for me.

    Been doing computers since '62(IBM 7070/4(just missed their 650!!!). Managed a bunch of 360's. My first PC I think was one of the RS puters (I tried them all), a commodore, an IBM PC w DOS 3.11, and others mainly DIY (COMPUTER SHOPPER!!!) w 95, 98, xp, vista, me, 7!!!, 8, 10!!!, 11.

shouldnt need to. just browse to C:\Windows\Media and listen to the windows sounds and let us know which one keeps playing

Sound is Device Disconnect. Get two of those sounds right after another, then a pause of 1-2 minutes. Never a Device Connect sound. Only occurs after the monitors have turned off but computer is still running.

Also - check your pci power in advanced power options and set it to 'off'

Monitor USB ports? Yes, but they don't appear to be working based on trying to use a flash drive.

Made the Link State Power Management setting change, but did not solve the problem. (Amazing guess, though.)

Look to a USB device, mouse, kbd, perhaps something just added - possible bad cable or adapter or device. (I suppose a weak battery in said device might cause it. Don't key on the "no connect".

if your monitors are samsung, i know they have System > Source Detection on the monitor. try setting that to manual (or whatever is equivalent for your brand).
