Hi all.
To cut a long story short, i had a 6 year old install that went bad, was unable to restore from a backup as every single thing on the face of the earth that could go wrong did.

So just set my system up again with win 11, all running fine. Probably needed it anyway right :giggle:

But whenever i shut the PC down, i can see a box that flashes up extremely quickly, something about application failed to shutdown, with a red x and a bong sound.
This is so fast i can barely read what it says, pc is running fine but its getting on my nerves.

Any idea how i can work out what this is or stop it. Its driving me nuts.

I have created a full system image on another drive so i can tinker a little if i mess up.

Thanks all.

I installed a couple of imaging programs that i have since removed. Macreum, Hasleo and easus, made a backup with each one just in case one failed.
settled with Hasleo and removed the others as it appears to work fine.

Ive looked in event viewer and there are a few red icons and a couple of yellow ones, but i cant make head or tail of what it means :woozy:

Does it do it every time you shut down even if you dont open anything?

While waiting for someone smarter than me turn off everything in Settings, Apps, Startup

There's also the old fashioned method of filming the screen with a camera or smartphone, and then watching the video in slow-mo to see what the error said.

Yes as soon as you select shutdown. But does not appear if you select restart. Weird. When I'm home later I'll disable all startup items and se what happens.

Ok i found it, well done guys, i did not even think to check the start up apps actually running.

Turned them off one by one and found out its my Ulanzi deck software. This now makes sense as having installed it and set it up, but still waiting for my deck to arrive, so im thinking its maybe trying to shut the deck down but as its not found producing an error. Either way got it.

WELL DONE :)

Glad you found it - I was going to suggest it might have been the Ease US program as I had similar problems with that on Windows 11 and ended up uninstalling it.

EaseUS is actually terrible, wont be using that for sure, it cant even create a rescue that that boots.

I also had that issue in the past! But the main issue over the past year was the actual program kept crashing windows 11 if opened. I used it for a few years for backups prior to that, but the one time I wanted to restore, it wouldn't work with the recovery media.
