I have tried Office 2019 but I don't like it and I also do not like Click 2 Run Office versions either!! In fact Click 2 Run Office won"t install either!

After doing a complete Office scrub I decided to do a fresh install of my Office 2016 Pro Plus x64 VL on my Windows 11 laptop but it fails and I'm getting an error with NO error logs!!

Here are two pics. One showing the start of that install and the second showing there has been an error. Note there is NO mention of any Office error in the Windows logs, not even ANY mention of Office 2016 at all!!

Why no error log(s)??

I have a week's worth of emails waiting (3000+) needing download into Outlook so I really need some help ASAP please!

Thanks for any.

Correction!!

A Google search for "Office 2016 install error logs" revealed that there are actually install error logs created then located on my D:\Temp folder!

Searching the latest one revealed...

Error attaching to OSE, error 0x00000000

A Google for that error revealed a number of possibilities. I'm looking into some now.

Where did you buy this? VL versions are only sold to corporations.

Sorry, it's not VL. I had copied the app name from elsehere and forgot to remove the VL part. It's a retail version.

Anyway I believe that is irrelevant for my problem.

Thanks.

I thought the retail version was click to run. Anyway, there is an office removal tool that removes hidden things that may not be apparent with a normal uninstall. I know I had to completely uninstall mine before I could reinstall when I upgraded the office suite

They did not sell Pro Plus in the normal retail channels (still don't). You could only get it if you were an employee of a company that had home use rights or a student that was eligible. The sites on the web offering it for cheap were selling private Not for resale MSDN keys that were oversold and in many cases could not be reactivated.

Anyway I believe that is irrelevant for my problem.
Might not be.
My above comment is not to start a debate on how someone "got " a license. Just pointing out the way office is sold or obtained.

I think @jimbo45 had similar issues with Office 2019 on a Post a while back. Maybe he can help you? My mention should alert him to your question.

Hi there
I'm using Office 2021 LTSC these days but what was the error on 2019.

If it's about License issues and you had a valid license then this should fix it from what I remember :

Command prompt
Run as administrator
cd "\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"
Enter
OfficeC2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13801.20266
Enter

You then get the box Office is downloading updates
Close command prompt
When you click an office application, there is no nag screen.
now press File
then choose Update options
Disable updates.

Cheers
jimbo

Thanks for letting me know that info jimbo45

Ever since my old laptop got udated by Microsoft to Build 22504.1000 then 22504.1010 I haven't been able to install ANY 2016 or 2019 versions of Office!! I've tried various ISOs and downloads of both VL and C2R versions of each but I can't get ANY to successfully install!! It's driving me nuts!!

As I just mentioned, my Office problems only started when I've been on Windows 11 22504 Builds! I'm seriously considering blowing any my drive with Windows 11then doing a clean install of Windows 10.

Oh! What was the problem you have with Office 2019 please?

Cheers.
