Friday The 13th!

I'm not superstitious and normally I see it as just another day. Today I got the jinx. When I checked my mail I had a letter from my Discover Card Identity Theft Protection program. Apparently with all of these security breaches at least one of them accessed my Social Security number. I took their recommendation and filed for a fraud alert. Of all the days, I had to find out on Friday the 13th. Anyone else run into any bad luck today?

My ex-gf used to say that we never needed to worry about Friday the 13th.
She said Saturday the 14th was the dangerous day.

On Friday the 13th, everyone is on their guard for bad luck.
Then we all relax on Saturday the 14th and... bam!

My Friday the 13th was yesterday, but I don’t believe in any of that. I had a good day. The earth is still flat, birds aren’t real, the chemtrails weren’t out so that’s a bonus. A good day all round!

Only 9 more minutes and I am good!

I also got Identity theft alerts today. Old stuff from T-mobile breach from years back. But my info is still out there. I have frozen my credit ratings.

Put a freeze on your credit as well. You can always unfreeze it if you initiate something that requires a credit check. You have to freeze separate with all 3 agencies. Mine has been frozen and perpetual fraud alert for a few years now. I have 7, count em', 7 different free credit/dark web/identity monitoring accounts care of various breaches

I just found out the hard way that your ex-girlfriend is correct. Saturday the 14th can be worse. I wanted to balance my check book so I started my finance program and saw that some of my entries missing. I thought no problem the program does automatic backups when it closes. For some reason my latest back took me back to where I was. My last Macrium image was made on August the 30th so I decide instead of going through all the hassle of going back several weeks I'll just do a image restore. I ran Macrium and selected the restore point I wanted to use. When the computer restarted it went straight to the BIOS. For what ever reason there were no drives listed. Then I tried doing a restore from my Macrium boot drive and the drive still wasn't listed. I opened up the desktop and cleaned out all the dust and reseated the NVMe drive. The computer still booted to The BIOS. I went to Walmart and to my surprise they had a 1TB Western Digital Blue drive, a 1TB Western Digital Black gaming drive and a 2TB Western Digital Black gaming drive. I went with the 1TB gaming drive. I'm happy to say that my desktop is back up and running. I know that Macrium didn't cause the problem but I am curious of why the drive died so suddenly.

Yep. She was wise beyond her years.
Some day when I have time, I'll explain her theory of the... "Rent-a-saurus Thumb".



What the heck, I got time...

There was this smart monkey, back in the days of the dinosaurs.
He was walking through the jungle one day, and found a "thumb" laying on the ground.
He ran home and showed it to his wife. And she asked... "Well what are you gonna do with it?"

So he thought and he thought...
Then he ran outside and built a small booth near to one of the commonly used jungle paths.
He painted a sign for the booth. He wrote Rent-a-Saurus Thumb.

The next day, there were hundreds of dinosaurs lined up, waiting to rent the thumb.
Because, as you know, even dinosaurs need to pick things up occasionally.
