Reminds me of the intelligence test an employer set.

He had three candidates - an artist, a physicist and an engineer.

They are all pretty good, so he gives a final test.

He lines them up in a room and says how long it to take to reach other side if you go half the distance in one second, half the remaining distance in next second, half the distance again in next second and so on?


The artist says 31 seconds - employer says "why?" - Artist replies "I was born on 31st"

The physicist says an infinite number of seconds, and provides a mathematical proof - employer replies "true" impressed with his understanding.

The engineer says 14 seconds - the employer replies "but physicist has shown you can never get there?"
The engineer replies "true but after 14 seconds, I will be so close, it will make no significant measurable difference taking more steps."

Guess who got the job!

Maths proof takes 14 second to get 99.99% of way, no matter how far away the other side is.

The engineer agreed, but proposed the went half the distance first, then half the remaining distance, then repeat until they got there.
