Suburban Australia. Harmless, kind of. Common. They say every few houses has one of these in their roof cavity. Not all this big but they generally get pretty big. Which is funny because most people aren’t aware that they’re living up there. It’s a common Carpet Python.

Pest control, as long as they are not poisonous. In some places and countries yellow pitons and white Boa are deliberately kept in and around rural houses as pest control. Nothing like that around here but last few years there's couple of green garter snakes, this year they are about 1.5 meters long and during the day hide in rose garden bushes and in hedges. Some times I see them with a bump which means they ate a mouse or a rat but are not big enough to be dangerous to dogs and cats. Gone in hibernation now but can't find where, not in the house.

Absolutely. They're rodent control here as well. I have about 6 different species of snake on my property, from the mildly poisonous Python to the most deadly Eastern Brown Snake

There are only 2 poisonous snakes around here but live only in rocky areas, none in my vicinity, neither very dangerous or deadly, Still some are afraid and even kill them. Tried to educate neighbors and promised to remove them for them. There are crop fields all around and and gully with a creek and trees nearby so I release them there.

I am surrounded by bush on two sides, so they need to be relocated elsewhere (when they’re a problem) . We have a great Snake Catcher. I’d only kill one if I had zero other choices. Also, snakes are protected in Australia.

They are theoretically protected here too but too many ignorant people and little to non existent protection for them. Have a good laugh every spring at panic when someone sees a snake in a park or garden in downtown Belgrade and calling SPCA or police. even TV and papers talk about it.
