Windows 11 Pro 22H2 (Build 22621.900)
We have no gaming forum as of yet so I thought I'd ask here.... Anyone gaming on Windows 11 yet?

Thoughts? Issues? Concerns?

I have 11 on my main laptop, and backup desktop, but I don't game (or have games installed) on either so I've not experienced gaming on 11 yet. Currently playing Mass Effect Legendary on my main rig listed in system specs (system one).

Thanks.

I am gaming GTA V, Tower!3D Pro, Sims 4, WoW and Diablo 3 and have had no issues with any game. I also do FiveM and FivePD online and still no issues with the software or TeamSpeak software that is used for these. I have several more games to install but not expecting any issues since they are all running perfectly so far.

Has someone tried to install the Xbox Insider Hub on Windows 11 and activate one the Xbox Update Preview rings?
Microsoft officially supports Xbox Insiders only in Windows 10.

I'm kind of dying to put Windows 11 on my production/gaming rig, but I can't afford any drama or incompatibilities with any of my photography/printing apps.

That said, it would also be cool to see how it games with triple A title games like Division 2, Witcher 2 & 3, Mass Effect Legendary for example.

Try to apply this. Run CMD and copy/paste:
Code:
rem Specifies the number of times the taskbar button flashes to notify the user that the system has activated a background window
rem If the time elapsed since the last user input exceeds the value of the ForegroundLockTimeout entry, the window will automatically be brought to the foreground (focus)
reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v "ForegroundFlashCount" /t REG_SZ /d "0" /f

rem ForegroundLockTimeout specifies the time in milliseconds, following user input, during which the system keeps applications from moving into the foreground / 0 - Disabled / 200000 - Default
reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v "ForegroundLockTimeout" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f

I'm still on woodworking deadline until tonight. Will do it tomorrow morning and post back the result.

Playing "Warframe". Working fine, using HDR option without any problem. Running it directly from Warframe.com NOT thru Steam.
Just select Direct 12 (Beta) in Graphics API option in launcher. Then select HDR from options setting within the game.

I've tested several games, mainly because I'm also testing a 4K monitor prototype.

Windows 11 Auto HDR + this prototype and 4K == absolutely amazing, hassle free gaming. Control, Watch Dogs: Legion, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit (Remasterd), Skyrim, Diablo III, Mass Effect trilogy: Remastered, Watch Dogs: Legion of the Dead (Alpha test), Forza Horizon 4 (XBGP), CyberPunk 2077, lots of little games like Path of Exile, This War of Mine, the original NFS: Hot Pursuit (although after playing Remastered for 5 minutes I unisntalled the original - it was too beautiful), and so many more.

I've had a few hiccups - a game in EA Origin Play called Saboteur I had loads of fun playing last year, and wanted to play it in 11. It will not load.

Need For Speed (NFS) (2015) refuses to play nicely - the car thinks I'm mashing the XBox trigger to accelerate 24/7 (I'm using the XBox Wireless Controller Elite Series II) = haven't gotten around to fixing it. In contrast, both newer Payback and Heat play perfectly fine.

NFS: Hot Pursuit (remastered) looks so damned nice that I started from scratch, no save games loaded from before, and I have exactly 1 police chase item left that is not gold (all racer items are gold) - and I've put in only 29 hours into the game.

Control with 4K and HDR is very nice looking. Forza Horizon 4 is beautiful. Asphalt 8 and 9 work as expected, they are mostly CPU intensive, IIRC.

Watch Dogs (WD), WD 2 and WD: Legion all work for the most part - except that none of them can use the Elite II unless it is connected by wire (ongoing issue for years now). WD: Legion of the Dead alpha looks stunning in HDR and 4K.

Diablo III (DIII), Path of Exile (PoE), WarFrame, This War of Mine (TWoM), and other games - any of them that can make good use of the 4K screen makes it fun. Windows is rarely hiccuping in-games, mostly, if there is an issue, it simply will not run.

Windows 11 even throws on HDR for basic games - like the Random Salad card games in Windows Store (Gin Rummy Pro / Deluxe, etc.).

Cyberpunk 2077 - what can I say? I have to render it at lower res and upscale, but the 1.23 patch has aloowed me to bump some of the realism back into the game - it's not 30x0 caliber imagery, for sure, but it holds its own now.

Thanks for the info as that tells me I'll have no issues gaming under 11.

Anyway, you have a lot of acronyms there, some I'm not familiar with - WD? The only WD I know besides WD-40 is Western Digital :)

And speaking of Cyberpunk 2077, I need to replay that again, as I kind of rushed through it the first time. First time I ever rushed through any type of game, so yeah, a replay.

Again, thanks for the info.

Thanks. Works for Firefox.

@TairikuOkami

Run it on elevated CMD.

NFS Shift -> still gets minimized and no revive on alt+tab or clicked at taskbar at all. It stays minimized until closed via task manager
NFS Shift Unleashed -> Also still gets minimized but resumable on alt+tab

I have tried making change on compatibility setting, but still no avail. It was all fine on Windows 10

Thanks anyway for the helps

Kevin

Thanks for the info as that tells me I'll have no issues gaming under 11.

Anyway, you have a lot of acronyms there, some I'm not familiar with - WD? The only WD I know besides WD-40 is Western Digital :)

And speaking of Cyberpunk 2077, I need to replay that again, as I kind of rushed through it the first time. First time I ever rushed through any type of game, so yeah, a replay.

Again, thanks for the info.

Sorry, in editing, I removed the initial reference to WD - The Watch Dogs franchise. I have all 3 plus the Legion of the Dead Alpha on my machine.

I'll go back and fix the post listing the names at least once and referring to the acronym I use with them.

As for Cyberpunk - yeah, I ran through it pretty quickly, and have completed it twice with a Nomad origin story (with the last scene being, really, the only difference between the 2 play-throughs. aka the Choice you have to make.

I've started a new character last week with the street rat origin story. it's really different, for sure. It's like a whole new game for me because so many little things are different just because of the origin story.

Been playing everything from football manager to flight sim to assetto corsa on the sim setup, Red dead, Chernobylite, Hitman 3, Metro Exodus Enhanced edition , RES8 and a bunch of others, If its AAA or a big title, Chances are ive played it, Win 11 thrown no issues at all, The auto HDR is nice though :D

Yes, the auto HDR is particularly nice on these games.

Yeah, I've tried Stadia and GeForece Now for 'streaming' gaming, and games in Steam, Origin, UibSoft Connect, GoG, Epic, Amazon Luna, Battle.Net, Rockstar Social Club, and .... no, I think that is it thus far.
