Solved 'Get the latest updates as soon as they're available' is greyed out?

I think it happened after yesterdays Patch Tuesday update but not sure.
To avoid inadvertent update to 25H2 until I am ready I have set the TargetReleaseVersionInfo value to 24H2 on both my devices.
I had done this previously using Brinks batch file Specify_target_Feature_Update_version_to_Windows11_24H2.bat.
I updated both devices but this has only happened on my HP desktop (Win 11 Pro) device. The Dell (Win 11 Home) device has not been affected.

Is anyone else seeing this issue?

Setting a Target Release version is, by definition, incompatible with keeping up to date by getting the latest version. That option win be greyed out in both Windows 10 and 11.

Why only in Pro and not Home? Not all group policies work in Home, some will just be ignored even if set in the registry.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

I have run sfc /scannow which found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
I also run dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth command.

These have changed nothing. Still greyed out.

Thank you. That's what I thought and that's why I mentioned it in my OP.
The thing is that I have had the target set to 24H2 since 8th July 2025 on both my devices and I am fairly sure that this has only just happened.
I'll reset the target to "-" again and report back.

Edit update: -
Yes that fixed it. The button was enabled again. Now that it is confirmed I have reset it back to 24H2 again.
Thanks for the pointer regarding why it happened in Pro and not Home.

That may be because 25H2 has only recently been confirmed as being on its way. Windows has now started testing itself for 25H2 compatibility, with results stored in the registry under:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\TargetVersionUpgradeExperienceIndicators
