Apps Get updates for apps and games in Microsoft Store in Windows 11

  • Staff
Microsoft_Store_banner.png

Microsoft redesigned the Microsoft Store from the ground up in Windows 11, making space for more content, keeping the user experience simple and responsive. It will help you discover and install the best apps, games, movies and even special offers – like unique movie discounts for Xbox Game Pass members. All the content in the Microsoft Store is tested for security, family safety and device compatibility.

Reference:

This tutorial will show you how to manually check for app and game updates in the Microsoft Store for your account in Windows 11.

Here's How:

1 Open the Microsoft Store app.

2 Click/tap on the Library icon in the left pane, and click/tap on the Get updates button at the top right. (see screenshot below)

Get_updates_in_Microsoft_Store-1.png

3 The Microsoft Store will now check for updates for your installed apps and games. (see screenshot below)

Get_updates_in_Microsoft_Store-2.png

4 If you have any app or game updates available, they will automatically start downloading and installing. (see screenshot below)

Get_updates_in_Microsoft_Store-3.png

5 You can click/tap on the More actions (3 dots) button for apps and games to Cancel, Download now, etc... if needed. (see screenshot below)

Get_updates_in_Microsoft_Store-4.png

6 When finished, you can close the Microsoft Store app if you like.

That's it,
Shawn Brink

Not really working for me as the list is not accurate since it starts with the newest updated in reverse chronological order:

2021-07-24_6-01-41.jpg

So basically according to this, only Twitter and Candy Crush Saga was updated which was 2 days ago.

Notifications however says there are 8 things updated on July 23, 2021 which was yesterday and I manually watched it and the notifications is correct but none of the 8 things updated which are not Twitter or Candy Crush Saga are not showing up in that list.

2021-07-24_6-03-39.jpg

I just clicked on Get Updates under Library, watch the date change on Twitter and Candy Crush Saga, I know it just updated HEVC Extensions:
2021-07-24_6-08-53.jpg

Here is one example of something that was updated but not shown as it's not even in the library list:
2021-07-24_6-12-40.jpg

I also installed Adobe Photoshop Express on July 23, 2021:

Already have it on Sort by Most Recent except what's shown is not anything even remotely close to what was updated. I can go through the entire list and nothing that was updated as I do the updates manually even shows up in the list. I should say that Sort by Name actually works fine as it will show everything but Sort by Most Recent is not showing everything as what's on the top of the list was not what was the most recently updated as the actual Most Recently updated is missing. Here is a example:

2021-07-24_7-39-24.jpg

The following are what are examples of what was updated and as you can see from the above, they are not on the list at all:

It does need a better update history though.
It managed to get the Adobe Photoshop Express but is still missing the Messenger in the screenshot in the previous post... And it seems to put Twitter in the wrong place since Twitter is not the most recent. Seems like when it sorts by date, it's only randomly selecting what to show.

Hello, :)

As a test, boot into Safe Mode with Networking, and see if you may be able to get updates from the Microsoft Store.

Hi, in Safe mode with networking, Microsoft Store doesn't open.

I am desperate, I cannot update the dowloaded apps or dowload new ones...

Have you got some hints to solve the issue ?

I have already tried all the solutions found googoling the web, but no way...

Windows 11 Pro for Workstations
Hi, in Safe mode with networking, Microsoft Store doesn't open.

I am desperate, I cannot update the dowloaded apps or dowload new ones...

Have you got some hints to solve the issue ?

I have already tried all the solutions found googoling the web, but no way...
I'm not sure what all you tried already, but here's a list to try:

1) Clear and reset Microsoft Store cache.

2) Run "Windows Store Apps" troubleshooter.

3) Reset "Microsoft Store app.

4) Re-register Microsoft Store app

When all else fails, a repair install may help to avoid a clean install.

Hi, I have done a re-install over Windows 11, keeping personal settings and apps, but noway, Microsoft Store won't update or dowload apps...

Have you got a "last try solution" ?

Hi,

I have done a new Windows 11 installation in place (I created an USB key with the last Wrision of Windows 11 inside and I re-installed Windows 11 starting inside Windows 11 itself (it is not possible to do a re-installation of Windows 11 booting the USB key).

Anyway I noticed this: I have previously installed an old version of Microsoft Store and when have re-installed Windows 11 in place, the Microsoft Store version remained the old one, the re-installation does not installed the updated version of the Microsoft Store and this sounds a bit strange...

Have you got the last version of the Microsoft Store that I can launch to update the old one or overwrite it ?

Thanks a lot in advance for your great help.

Unfortunately, the Microsoft Store is a Store app and not one that has an executable that can be used for this. :(
