What does it mean by page is not responding, happens when I am not scrolling, just reading text.
1733399123217.webp

Happens with Edge and Chrome
Seen the message for tabs I am viewing or tabs I am not viewing
I can click wait sometimes it immediately returns, sometimes not.
I click wait to scroll page then pops up again, click wait, scroll page, pops up again. I can scroll a lot or a little, then it pops up.
And it is totally random

I do have many tabs open perhaps 50

Have you looked at the impact of so many open tabs on your system's resources?

A lot of it is when you do a search, you get a search page and you click a link it opens a new tab
If I do 20 searches a day, I will have 40 tabs open, etc....

Well it has not happened since I first posted, it seems to run into the error a lot then quits being a problem for a while, rinse, repeat.
I found this for possible fixes

Oh yes. I've seen it. But I don't want a bunch of unused, already visited tabs slowing me down with a bunch of mess and clutter.
I do use tabs, but only those I am actively working with and know I'm going back to within a reasonable amount of time. Mine are even color coded so I know exactly which tab goes where just at a glance.

I see you have about 23 sleeping tabs out of about 66..., try putting them in Groups for later.

When edge started doing this to me today, I started using Chrome.
Then Chrome started doing it to me.
At the moment I have both Edge and Chrome up so may over 100 tabs opened between the two browsers.

One big helper might be if when I click a search item, it opens in the current tab, not a new tab, what do you think of that?

Is that a setting?

And it has not done it again since opening this thread, and I have not closed any tabs, which makes me wonder if some CPU process starts up causing it to occur with a hundred tabs open?

Over the last few months it has episodes of page unresponsive, then long times where no issues at all.

I have done nothing, neither closed browsers or tabs. And have not a single issue with page unresponsive again.

Whenever it happens it happens a lot, and then nothing for day or weeks.

Could it be FIOS just slows down and stops or stutters? provoking the message?
Have also seen the message show up, then go away on it's own.

Or could it be the internet server has a hiccup?
Page unresponsive seems like the page is waiting on the server, and it is not responding

Also noticed it does it on certain sites, like ones that show up as weird but interesting catchy titles that make you want to click on them.
I never see it on google, MSN, Yahoo, major sites.

@sdowney717 All of those points you made about your ISP could be contributing factors.

Please do not take offense to my opinion. I mean no disrespect and it only an observation on my part. I've followed a number of your many past threads about the varied issues you've had and things you've tried to do. Though your specs show only the one very old machine, from what I've read I believe you manage multiple systems, some compatible, some not. I feel you are being shot in the foot by a number of factors...primarily by the limitations of some of your machines, the way you use your systems, and your expectations not being met as a result of some of your own actions.

This right here is a prime example. One who is smart in his computing habits would think twice before clicking on those off the wall sites with catchy titles in the first place.

They were not you know bad sites...They show up in MSN news page feeds all the time.
Anyhow, still no issues of page unresponsive.

Been pretty good. Just now getting page unresponsive on this web page

Can someone view that and see if anything like that happens?

After I closed the page, problem stopped. And today I have both Edge and Chrome open with many tabs. But not a single issue until viewed that page

Probably a cross scripting issue. Install Ublock origin or Ghostery browser extension and try that page again
Much thanks!
Installed Ghostery.
Viewed page, no problem.
It's definitely blocking the ads.
I have not had this error for a while, hope never will again.

Ublock google said likely won't be supported in the future.
