gimmie my icons back for explorer, desktop etc!

Hi guys,
I got no idea how my icons on the desktop, Explorer and in other apps disappeared. It was old but even on Windows 10, the icons were showing? Do any of you have an idea why my icons are missing? Thanks:)

Welcome to the forum.
First, rebuild icon cache to see if the icons come back.. Rebuild Icon Cache in Windows 11
Restart.

If you still have the issue, it may be related to onedrive. Right click on your desktop folder. Select properties, location tab. Does it show the location to be onedrive? Do you want to use Onedrive? Report back.

Check the right click context menu on the desktop and make sure you haven’t hidden them by accident.

  1. Right-click: on the desktop in a blank space.
  2. Select "View" from the context menu.
  3. Choose "Show desktop icons" to display them, or "Hide desktop icons" to make them disappear.
To customise:

  1. Right-click: on the desktop and select "Personalize".
  2. Scroll down and click on "Desktop icon settings".
  3. Check: or uncheck the boxes next to the icons you want to show or hide.

You can open powershell and run the following

Powershell: 
ie4uinit.exe -show

But it will only refresh the icons not rebuild the icon cache.

You can open powershell and run:

Powershell: 
%localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\iconcache*

Then

Powershell: 
Stop-Process -Name explorer -Force
Start-Process explorer.exe

That should do both.

Better still, follow the tutorial that glasskuter posted for you.
