I vaguely recall looking at it some while ago, but it couldnt see any of my disks.

Since Mike did a video about the program, I had a look at it again hoping it had been fixed. Still no joy.

Anybody else getting this?

DiskCopy is a user friendly disk/partition cloning tool, which can clone an entire disk or a single partition.

I just got it and seems okay even though the page says it's in BETA. I have a 128GB soldered-on drive on this cheapo Notebook and a 1TB HDD plugged into USB 3.

Have you tried the dreaded Run as compatibility options? Still doesn’t answer why it works for someone else and not you.

I think it could be iastorF.sys

booted into a different os on the same disk and it works ok.

Can someone tell me for what purpose one would want to use this? Is it supposed to be a backup method? If this is a direct copy, I would think it would take a long time to complete compared to software designed for imaging or cloning. I'm not being facetious. I'm totally ignorant of diskcopy and I truly want to know.

It’s basically like Minitool, which also provides disk management and cloning (in a paid circumstance) and I believe DiskCopy is free?.

DiskCopy is a user friendly disk/partition cloning tool. It's ideal for both migration to a faster storage device and data backup.


  • MBR to GPT and GPT to MBR. You can chose the partition style of the target disk, it does not need to be the same as the source disk's.
  • Always bootable. The target disk can be made bootable even if the source disk is not booting up.
  • Partition selection. Copy only the partitions you select.
  • Single partition cloning. Clone one partition directly to another, and optionally make it bootable.
  • Full disk/partition management options. Starting with DiskCopy version 1.1.1, DiskCopy includes a Utilities tab with disk/partition management options.

I still think the bootable version of Gparted beats this hands down (and can handle RAID)

And in command mode using dd it can even copy disks formatted with Ms's proprietary file system used in servers and storage spaces.

The original "Disk Copy" was for copying floppy disks. I don't think I've even see that program in about 30 years!
Sure wouldn't need it today.

I'm still using "Ghost 11.5" for all my partition imaging and drive cloning needs. Works GREAT!

Carifred puts out good software ... couldn't live without WAU Manager on many of my win OS's.

DiskCopy quickly listed all available drives on a laptop. I agree with the above posts in that DiskCopy is more like MIniTool ... all great products for whatever use you have for them.

Still need Reflect, but having many tools in the toolbox is a good thing ...
