Has anyone gotten the Win-X menu to work when enabling the "old" taskbar?


The menu is broken since forever. Since no one reads the docs (maybe it's just the classic lack of published symbols)/takes the time to update accounting for the change/provide an open Win-X rewrite, we are where we are... I don't have the time, honestly.

I was wrong, after a reboot I no longer have the Win X menu with that update, I do not even know if there is a fix/cure for it as that sort of thing is beyond me

I still wonder if this is a symbols-related issue, no one mentions that. I've been bombarded by emails, even though there are docs out there... and then people wonder why the documentation is lacking. Why bother when so few read it...?

It appears the behavior of the Win X menu has changed since the Windows update KB5014668. I had a chance to look it over with the windows 11 style taskbar selected in EP. Now, only default shortcuts are available and they are located exclusively in the folder C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX. Previously these shortcuts were located both in C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX and C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX. Currently these shortcuts are not modifiable like they were prior to the update. . In addition EP properties does not appear in the Win X menu like before. Given the depreciation of the Win X menu, I'm not sure of its usefulness now

EP never altered the Windows 11 style taskbar Win-X menu, only the one presented when the Windows 10 taskbar was in use.
