Well, it is labeled Beta and since it's under development it's normal to try to do it as fast as possible and catch up with others or surpass them, it's just being competitive and probably one day will start charging for it. It's not one amateur programmer job, somebody are getting payed to do it, or maybe it's just "Loss leader" for other products.
My primary backup is still Macrium Reflect 8.1, I paid for it so I'm bloody well gonna use it as long as it works and does the job, it's well developed and proven product. I don't agree with their policy and price for version X (or is it 10 ) so not even considering it.
As Hasleo is concerned, i tested restore only once since 5.0, it was somewhat involuntary as I had some problem with Windows but it worked well and fast. As far as I'm concerned even now does it does everything I need which is not much or complicated, Just whole windows disk manually (for now) when there were some larger changes. One click preset backup helps a lot.
Things I think they should pay more attention to is updates, It didn't detect new update and updates require uninstalling older version although it doesn't change settings or need a reboot. Can't find the change log either. Settings and options menu can stand some improvement but as whole it works fine. Other badly needed improvement is Hasleo service that takes about a minute to shut down during system restart or shutdown and if possible, service should be set differently, either on manual activated on demand or start and stop after full boot (like so many other windows services).

Hasleo looks good to me. It doesn't have exclusions, but that won't bother many people.

I use it as well as Macrium v8 (for now).
Have restored the canary partition successfully a couple of times when I've messed up

It does, I have one on W10 laptop and one on W11 desktop.

I expect so. There might an exception if one machine ( and its winre.wim ) has irst drivers and the other does not. Quite often the case with more recent oem machines.

With Hasleo it´s possible to create a WinRE or a WinPE rescue ISO or UFD. The WinPE may be more compatible between different computers, the WinRE may be more "customized" to a particular one. But usually both types of rescue media are broadly compatible.

I have tried it, but takes forever whereas Macrium took minutes. What I found works is I am on Macrium free, but in settings add Macrium guard . It gives you a free trial , upgrade that to the latest which is 8.1 something or other then make a usb recovery drive, works on 24h2 without the iaStoreVD.sys error. I now have upgraded my usb pen drive. Hopefully get a few more miles out of Macrium. Also tried recuezilla and it's fast and works like a champ.

just tested on my Win11 23H2 , booted fast , works fine , will use this next to Macrium/AoMEI ..............

Excellent features. The gui is a bit small for people with poor eyesight and the pale grey lettering and tick boxes don't help.

I dont need the iastor drivers added, but I expect if they are currently installed in the os the hasleo pe builder will include them.

Somebody should be able to test that.

These options are enabled by default. Obviously, these files/folders can´t be excluded from an image.

It´s not clear to me.

If you’re wanting to backup your OS/System then you shouldn’t be using Partition backup in my opinion, unless you want to backup other drives “with” the OS. Then you should disable those settings.

You want to choose “System Backup” if you’re just wanting a System Image.

Not sure what they mean, the pagefile hiberfile and swapfile .sys files and vss snapshot files, which are in the hidden system volume information folder are shown as excluded in pale grey letters.

If those were excluded, windows wouldn't work when restored.

page hiber and swap not needed in image, they are generated on boot. Snapshot volumes/shadow copies/whatever you want to call them not strictly needed either, unless doing a forensic image.

Which files are you referring to?

If you are referring to pagefile, hiberfile and swapfile, these can be safely excluded for sure. Windows just recreates them upon booting.
