Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Version 1.389.659.0)

I do not have Windows Defender running or activated. I have Kaspersky Standard running.

Why this continues to download each time I run WU is frustrating to say the least

I want to stop this completely from udpating..

Your advice is appreciated.

Just let it download.
Kaspersky works "with" Windows Defender, so you kind of want Defender to be somewhat up to date.

Most of the time you shouldn't see Defender updates, but every now and then an update to the Defender "engine" should show up.

AV programs have two major parts... the definitions and the program itself (the engine).
I run Bitdefender and I don't see any Windows Defender definition updates, but every now and then I do see a Windows Defender "engine" update.

I think it's a good idea that it works that way. Then, if you ever decide to get rid of Kaspersky, the Windows Defender program (engine), is up to date, and all it needs to do is grab the latest definitions, and you'll be protected.





This is how mine looks in Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection...

The Knowledge Base number (KB2267602) stays the same for every Defender definition update. This is normal. These updates come through WU almost daily, all with KB2267602. Only the version changes.
