Help new to building my ram is acting up

these are my specs

the ram works on A2 and B2 and when i put its pair (other ram ) The fans and everything is fine but the cpu debug led a a little yellow led on ddram also , the rams are rgb so they have to work right because they both light up and i tried doing the same the same thing with the other ram A2 and B2 and still does not wanna boot up just gives me debug led . Please help this is my first pc build i spent over 14 hours in my chair trying to figure out whats wrong and WHY DO I FEEL LIKE IM THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM ( yes i installed all the drivers i hope i dont really know how to check and also updated bios to latest version)

Should i return the ram and get a new pair

Sorry, but I find your post confusing.

Are you trying to use more than 2 DIMMs? ("other" RAM.)

If you're trying to use 4 DIMMs, and they are only certified as a pair, you may have trouble. I have a motherboard with four 16GB DDR4 3800 DIMMs installed. They were on the motherboard compatibility list only as a pair. I had to back off the RAM frequency to 3600 to get the PC stable.

Ok so i have have a pair of 2x8 rgb ram
I put one of the ram sticks in slot a2 and b2 by itself and bootsup fine like a normal pc but when i do the same thing with the other ram (its pair) and do the same thing put it in slot a2 and b2 and does not wanna work but the rgb signifies it has power and nothing wrong with the sloths then i tried doing the normal way one ram in slot a2 and the other in b2 and now i have a debug white led on cpu and a tiny yellowish dot on ddram led
I tried switching the rams around and everything put the motherboard still gives me the debug led i tried seeing if i did something wrong with the cpu and cpu cooler and everything was perfectly fine . What i don’t understand is why is it giving me problems now and why dosent the ram work by itself but the other one does . Yeah its tuff soent over 7 hours trying to figure out what was going on bios update drivers everything but i was doing that on the single 8gb ram while the other stick was sitting here on the table so i just decided to return them and get my refund and get other pair . I still have them i will return them tomorrow but ill just give it one last try on these forums the only thing i can think of its that the ram is corrupted or something .

You may be or may not be the only one with the issue. Keep one thing in mind, if 2 people are in a store and buy the exact same computer, take them to their homes and set them up, they are no longer the identical computers, some one little thing done starts changing them such as a program is installed or some apps get uninstalled, every little thing done makes them different from the other.

Matching RAM modules is important so they all work with each other. And the modules have to fit the matching slots/sockets, e.g. 1 and 3 then 2 and 4. Sometimes the modules are colored, such as 2 white and 2 blue, fill the white first then the blue. I haven't seen a board yet with A2 and B2 markings but would wonder if there's also A1 and B1 slots.

If the "other ram" also does not work in those two slots, then it is probably not a fault with your new Team t-force ram.

Try the t-force ram one at a time in A2. If each of them works then they are ok.

You are not alone. I am having a mare with this new 5.25 dual bay caddy. Lights come on for both the top and bottom but only the bottom disk is recognized in bios.

When i use the ram that dosent work it gives me a ddram debug led and yes i put it in slot a2 i really think is the ram

Let's see if I follow this.

If you insert one DIMM in A2 (the preferred slot for a single DIMM), the machine boots normally.

If you put the other DIMM. alone, in A2, does it work? That would be one test for a bad DIMM.

If you can boot the PC with a single good DIMM in B2 (not the recommended location), that tells you that the DIMM slot is OK. That's good. (I've had a bad DIMM slot due to a bent CPU pin. Bad.)

As far as I know, the RGB on the DIMM is decorative. It may not tell you whether the DIMM is working at all. (Corrections on that would be welcome.)

Would the ram boot up no matter the bios version because at first when i got to the step of booting up my pc it didnt work so after a while i was leaning on that it had something to do with the bios setting or version but then again the ram dosent work by itself like its pair .

Yea when i put the ram that “dosent work” in the same spot the other ram does it will not boot and give me debug led and when i take the good ram and put it in slot b2 it boots up then when i put the “bad” ram in b2 slot it does not boot up and not a pcbuilder pro but i think the motherboard is good and the slots are also perfectly fine . Yea the rgb light was giving me hope that the ram was working so i stayed up all night 7 hrs plus in denial

That pretty much says part of the RAM modules are bad and I'd not use them or get them replaced. Mark the good ones that boot with a Sharpie so as not to mix them up.

Looking back on this I noticed I failed to mention an important thing, is the power cord being pulled out each time before removing or inserting a module? Is the power button being held in for 8-10 seconds after pulling the cord to drain residual power from the motherboard? Not doing this can cause damage to the modules or other devices if power is still on the board. The old AT-style boards had the power switch connected directly to the PSU but the ATX-style boards are connected to the PSU and the switch only tells the board what to, or in other words the board always has power to it as long as it is plugged into a wall outlet/power strip.

Yea but i bought them as a pair ( same package ) and spent 50 bucks on them so now im getting my refund and getting GeIL ORION RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB)

I can put 1 DIMM in A2 and my computer will boot. You should try this one at a time. Your manual does show you can boot with 1 RAM DIMM.

Yea it works with one of the ram but when i try doing the same thing with the other one the rgb light up and everything but no boot so i think my ram broke and im getting a full on refund

Sorry that you got a bad DIMM.

If you want to play it safe, get RAM from MSI's compatibility list for your motherboard.

Unfortunately, IMHO, the way MSI arranges their list is awkward. However, if you search on "geil" (without the quotes), 7 DIMM part numbers are shown. 2 of them (beginning with GAO) are Orions.

I'm not sure I've ever used Geil RAM, but they have a favorable reputation. I've used Gskill, Kingston, and Corsair.

yea but i want to get a rgb one for less than 55 bucks any recommendations that are COMPATIBLE with my motherboard what about these G.SKILL Trident Z RGB (For AMD) 16GB (2 x 8GB) honestly look better than the t force and geil but how do i check if its compatible with my motherboard on msi website
