Here is the BIG question for me on the "new Outlook" coming in 2024

Here's the big question for me...and maybe others....
Do I have to have a MS account to use the new Outlook?

If so, as much as I don't like the old look of Tbird, I'll have to go back to Tbird. I don't want an MS account to use me mail apps.

why not an ms account?
if you want outlook you can buy it as a stand alone with a lifetime licence

The New Thunderbird is almost identical to the New Outlook! I think they all use the same template!

I just like opensource (I know Windows and Mail aren't opensource), privacy, no tracking, etc. I'm what you'd call a privacy nut as much as I can be anyway. We all know how the big tech giants want our info, and its getting worse.

Well that answered that! So I don't need a MS account to use the new Outlook? I thought when I went to try it, it wanted an account with MS Cloud.

And if the new Outlook looks like Thunderbird, I'm disappointed. I like the "modern" look in apps. That's why I wish they would keep Windows Mail. Although I read somewhere it will still work past its date, just no protection for it.

You mention the NEW Tbird...whens that coming out? I hope they modernize the UI.

NICE... thanks Edwin. I wonder if I can use email accounts from say... GMX and Zoho? I think I found where that can be done, but I see they don't offer POP3 anymore?

Enter the email address, it'll either accept it or reject it.

It's merely a simple, basic email client, similar to all the 100's of others..., it's just hosted by Microsoft, that's all.
Of course, MS wants to diagnose all your data! Just turn all that

off in Privacy Settings!

Then why even consider Outlook mail at all?

Also, I still find the following as confusing as hell. A. because I have 10 Outlook Accounts, I added one just last week. B. Because I use 3rd party email accounts, I added a new one this week. So.. I’ve read other pages, they just mimic what’s written here basically and I am none the wiser? I gave up trying to understand

Adding other mailboxes to Outlook.com
Microsoft removed the ability to connect any other accounts to Outlook.com on May 10, 2021, but accounts connected before May 10, 2021, will continue to sync

It wont accept GMX or Zoho.... guess its back to Thunderbird. At least I wont have MS scanning my emails and Tbird is open source. A shame, was okay with using Windows Mail.
MS always has to change things...

Personally, I don’t care what people use. Mail still passes through your ISP. God only knows what is intercepted and what isn’t. I’m not paranoid, I just know for a fact that privacy statements are constantly circumnavigated.

Mailbird is still my Go-To...,
the new Thunderbird is awesome as well...,
eMClient is outstanding if you like tons of features...,
the new Outlook is a work in progress but, it's lookin pretty good so far!

And, for Android...,
Aqua Mail
or...,
K9 Mail

I like the look of Mailbird, but $50, and you only get 3 email accounts.. That's a little too steep.
