Hi folks
I've got one update that keeps erroring out with "Download error" ==> however this wretched update is preventing me installing a new Windows build.
Is there any way I can delete this from history so I can run the windows install from a uupdump iso via setup.exe. I can't use disp on this as i want to do an update to the new build rather than a clean install.

Cheers
jibo

Deleting Windows update history will do nothing, try below suggestions.

Use Windows Update Troubleshooter.

  • Right-click on Start button and pick Settings
  • Go to System > Troubleshoot
  • Click on Other Troubleshooters > Windows Update and click Run button.

Download Windows updates manually.

  • Go to the official Microsoft update catalog;
  • Enter a specific update code, for example, KB4481031
  • Select the correct version and click Download
  • Click on the link and Windows will update your computer

Resetting the Windows Update components can usually solve these types of issues.

You could remove the failed update downloads by going to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and deleting all the files there.

You need to delete the following to clear the history:

Rich (BB code):
%systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\Logs\edb.log

However, it will probably make very little difference, you'll want to take a look at the WindowsUpdate.log file which is generated from the following Powershell cmdlet:

Rich (BB code):
Get-WindowsUpdateLog
