Solved How can I schedule a recording from an HDMI source?

I have a hybrid DVB-T/Analogue TV tuner card in my system and an HDMI-to-USB capture card. The application Total Media that comes with the hybrid TV card cannot access the HDMI capture card. I need to schedule a recording from the HDMI capture card but I cannot find any reliable application. I tried the CaptureFlux application which does a good job with the hybrid card, but the video captured from the HDMI capture card is always out of sync with the audio for some reason. When I use the card to capture live, I use VirtualDub 2 application in capture mode which does an excellent job capturing at the native 1920x1080 60fps MJPEG video format with synced audio. I can set the capture duration in VirtualDub but there is no way to set the start time, that is there is no way to schedule a capture.

So I am looking for capture applications that support scheduling. Any ideas appreciated.

The alternative would be to create a script to simulate the press of the F5 button (the VirtualDub hotkey to start capture) and then find a way to schedule the script to execute at a specified time. I am out of luck here, as I don't have the required programming knowledge to create the script and I don't have a clue how to make it execute at a specified time. Any help appreciated.

I tried to download it but it was Filmora video editing application instead and there was no capture feature.

Does VirtualDub have a command line interface, by any chance? If it does, you might be able to use Task Scheduler.

I know that would be a nuisance for repeated recordings, but it's a thought.

Yes it has, but I am not familiar with the parameters for editing or capturing video. It seems that I followed the ad to Filmora instead of the actual link to RecExperts I am downloading now but I will see it tomorrow since local time is 0:00 and I should go to bed. I will test it and post results.

It looks like EasyUS RecExperts does a really good job. The video quality is very good, despite using custom AVC compression and not the native compression format, and the audio is in sync. The scheduler also works fine. I guess I will mark the thread solved. Thank you for your help.

PS: The trial version only saves 1 minute of video and doesn't support scheduling. I had to buy the full version, but it's worth it. Also the "webcam" mode doesn't support scheduling, so I used the "game capture" mode instead. Be careful: The default is to capture the screen and system sound. I had to turn the screen capture off (in recording settings) and enable the webcam in order to actually capture from my HDMI card. In Webcam or Game mode you can choose which webcam to use, so I can choose between the hybrid tuner and my HDMI card.
