Hello everyone,

I am trying to fix another (new) boot problem, but this time in a VM. I am attempting to load WinRe in Hyper-V so I can fix the boot, but it only takes me in circles from booting to CD/DVD to loading VM install in Hyper-V then after picking Repair my PC it reboots and goes back to booting from CD/DVD. It never loads WinRe.

How do I do it? Can it be done? If no one knows than I will have to start a new thread asking how do I fix a VM problem in which the operating systems is not found. And no one wants another thread/question from me.

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

tecknot

Just create a standard Windows 11 installation ISO file and attach it as a DVD drive to the VM and boot from it. When you get to the first install screen press Shift + F10. You are now, basically, in the WinRE.

Hi NavyLCDR,

Ah, yes. Of course. I should have thought of that.

Thanks!

There is currently a bug in the Windows 11 installation media, whether created using the Media Creation Tool or downloaded directly as an ISO file. On the "Select setup option" screen in Windows Setup, you can open a Command Prompt by pressing Shift + F10. However, if you need access to the recovery options in Windows Setup, "Repair my PC" does not work correctly because selecting it causes the computer to restart.

This is particularly inconvenient when I use English-language Windows 11 installation media: the Command Prompt opened by pressing Shift + F10 uses an English keyboard layout, even though my physical keyboard has a different layout. This makes it difficult to enter certain commands and special characters.
