My use by date has expired. I haven't been used for ages.

Well, Haydon, I believe the official answer to your question is that if you fall over and everybody laughs you are young, but if you fall over and people rush up to ask you whether you are all right, you are old.

I can confirm that I have had the latter experience a couple of times now, so I'm in no doubt about my own status.

That's really quite a good gauge or definition of age Senico ..although I hope not to put it to the test.

Well, I looked up the meaning of "Senico" on one of those 'what's the meaning of the name...' and it said: A person who has the potential to attain spiritual enlightenment! I'm very happy with that - in fact it's probably nicer than Senecio...

I used to go out with a Miss Pellings - she was still in her prime for many years

I watched a TV documentary some time ago, how elephants get old, they need a lot of food to sustain their massive bodies, their teeth wear out to the point that they can no longer chew their food > death. There were other specifics about other species including humans

I actually am old and have known it for a while.

I rant about the weather all the time.

When they keep shoving more ailments and pills at you.

When I get a possible speeding violation from a Police Officer who looks young enough to be my grandkid or even great grandkid !!.

(As ex military - even at my age I could still take most of them out without batting an eyelid if I had to -- but that's another story -- Police have incredibly difficult job with breakdown in Traditional families", excessive LGBT issues and poor wages forcing parents to work during young kids formative years which as we all can see everyday the breakdown of society at large.)

Many police officers have to deal with "Mental issues" in arrestees -- young police officers aren't (nor should they be) trained to be "Mental Health councillors".

I'm not a real "Right winger nor an avid socialist either -- probaly more of a Social Democrat - Scandinavian style - and not of the "Hang'em and flog 'em" school but comparing my younger days with what's happenning now -- I'm not sure I'd like to be a young kid in this era -- OK we have zillions more comforts and technology - but it hasn't all been used wisely. Not sure what the answer is - but making medical / other progress that can make us live to welll over 100 while the streets aren't safe to go out in seems something's gone hideously wrong somewhere.
