How does one force uninstall - 2024-10 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 23H2 for x64 (KB5044033)?

When I did a in-place repair install of Beta Insiders 23H2 22635.4367, it did not install .NET Framework 3.5 but it did install KB5044033 already so in order to get .NET Framework 3.5 to install, I had to do the following because it would not install due to a missing components error:
Code:
DISM /Online /English /Disable-Feature /FeatureName:"NetFx3"
DISM /Online /English /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:"NetFx3"

In this section show below:

I clicked on Uninstall on KB5044033 and it will always show uninstalled but when I go back to that section 1 second later, it will always show the KB5044033 still installed so even if I repeat the uninstall, it will still show it as installed. Tried to uninstall in Safe mode with the same results. My concern is since I installed .NET Framework 3.5 after KB5044033 was already installed, I wanted to make sure the .NET Framework 3.5 is the security patched version so basically I want to force uninstall KB5044033 and let Windows Update install it again.

There is a program that I found long ago to help me get rid of hard-to-uninstall apps & programs. It is called Bulk Crap Uninstaller by Klocman. There are still periodic updates to BCU; but it really works!

It also can do a restore point & remove unwanted registry entries as well from the uninstalled programs. BCU will also force uninstall apps & programs without an uninstall program available, too.

Cheers!

Does it work on installed Windows Updates because Revo Uninstaller Pro only seems to handle both desktop and Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps but not Windows Updates. Their most recent update was on August 28, 2024 which was less than 2 months ago but as long as it works, that is what matters.

I have used BCU to uninstall Windows features & Windows Store apps... all I can say is try it & configure BSU appropriately.

I have not found one better that I like (free or paid).
Just make sure you let BSU complete a restore point for you. 😉

Cheers!

I just installed BCU but it's not showing the .NET Framework update as there is nothing under the October 14, 2024 or later install date.

Other than that, am I correct that BCU can replace Revo Uninstaller since it seems to be the same type of tool. Thanks!

To answer your question. Yes. Revo & BCU have the same kind of style of utility program.

The applications & programs that are created for Windows, Linux, etc. or any of the other multi-platforms that are out there are only as good as the developer/programmer who created them. Here is an example of what I mean (I found this thread on TenForums).

Have you tried rebooting Windows? .NET changes don't take effect, until the next restart.
Yes, rebooted and tried it atleast half a dozen times including safe mode and the .NET update is still there.

@SpiritWolfe - There is also this thread here:

I always thought Revo Uninstaller was what most people used. Think this is the same type of program as Quarterdeck CleanSweep from 1995 which was later Norton...
