Nope, I Googled (Bing-ed!) it first and saw that. Might just switch it to On at some point
Mine switched to Off. To enable On, I'd have to reinstall Windows 11, which is an endeavor I am not willing to undertake.

I literally clean installed Windows yesterday so turning it On wouldn't be a big deal for me

Good thing because there's no way to whitelist critical files and apps.

Its designed to brick Windows if turned on. The lack of granular control is the greatest single issue with it.

In addition to not providing a way to whitelist a particular app, if Send optional diagnostic data to Microsoft (Settings > Privacy & Security > Diagnostics & feedback > Diagnostic Data) is turned off, Smart App Control is automatically turned off (without notification of consequences). C'est la vie.

Any idea how long Smart App Control will be in the Evaluation mode before it switches itself On or Off?
Mine had been in evaluation mode since a clean install last November....

1672763593577.png
Well, I'm interested in seeing how Smart App Control works in practice. This is my first clean install to have it, I'll wait and see if/when it finishes evaluation, and whether it gets in my way if it decides to turn it on....

...it has finally decided to turn it off.

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.
