How To Correct Which Insider Branch I'm Actually Running

I installed the latest canary build using the rufus tool, but in my insider settings area I'm unable to change the desired release from the developer build to the canary build. I feel sure there's a way to do this but at least so far I haven't been able to figure it out yet. Thanks in advance for any & all help that may get provided to me. I'm enclosing a screenshot of what I'm seeing on my end, the canary channel is grayed out and not possible to select.

I don't think you will be able to change it because 29617 is the furthest along of all and as far as I know you can not go back (to lower builds) without a reinstall. I see the same and have done all the time I've run the 29500 branch.

Hey mate, :alien:

You could try using the REG file in step 4 of option 2 in the tutorial below to change the channel to show what you have installed.

I followed your tutorial exactly, & I'm still seeing the exact same thing on the insider build selection page. It seems like I remember at some point I saw a software application that would correct this automatically.

If you haven't already, restart the computer to see if it changed afterwards.
