How to create a bootable Crystal Disk Info 9.7.2

First, create a WinPE on your boot disk.
Then copy the portable CrystalDiskInfo folder to your disk.
Now reboot.

You will be greeted with a list in your boot menu if you have used Ventoy before. If not, just proceed to Step 2.
1. Pick bootmgfw.efi - Enter
- X:\Windows\System32 - Add e: (my USB drive letter is 'e')
2. X:\Windows\System32>e: - Enter
3. E:\cd crystaldiskinfo - Enter
4. E:\CrystalDiskInfo>diskinfo64.exe - Enter

(Note: cd stands for change directory)

That's all there is to it.

or use notepad from your winpe to browse to the program on the usb stick

or use 7-zip to stuff diskinfo64.exe into windows\system32 of your bootable wim. Easily accessed by typing diskinfo64.exe in cmd prompt

That’s correct. Then include the CdiResource and possibly the License folders in order to see the graphical interface of the tool.

Fyi, if your Windows is on arm, you need DiskInfoA64.exe. If you are still running a 32-bit Windows, then select DiskInfo32.exe.

Using this method suggested by SIW2, do the following:

1. X:\Windows\System31>e: - Enter
2. E:\>diskinfo64.exe - Enter

Minimize the Command Prompt to get a clear view of the readings on CrystalDiskInfo.

Similarly, I just boot into Macrium Reflect winpe mode and use its file explorer to run it from a usb flash drive.

Tried I did but couldn’t get it to work on Ventoy.
I am sure someone more tech-savvy will be able to do it.

So I copied the portable CrystalDiskInfo folder to Tools on my D:\Drive.

To use the the program, enter these entries when the cmd prompt appears after you have rebooted.

1. CrystalDiskInfo 9.7.2
2. Boot in winboot mode
3. /sources/boot.wim
4. X:/Windows\System32>d:
5. D:\cd tools
6. D:\Tools>cd crystaldiskinfo
7. D:\Tools\CrystalDiskInfo>diskinfo64.exe
8. Minimize cmd prompt

Is all that needed ? Have you tried only the diskinfo64.exe file

looks like it needs the cdiresource folder

Try this:
  1. Create WinPE with ADK
  2. Open boot.wim with 7-zip, drag and drop:
    CdiResource & DiskInfoX64.exe to Program Files
  3. Use Notepad to create a file: Winpeshl.ini and put in Windows\System32
    [LaunchApp]
    AppPath = "%ProgramFiles%\DiskInfo64.exe"
  4. Done
