I have a flash drive with Keepass Portable which I use on my Windows 10 Home desktop. The flash drive has a shortcut to the database file on the flash drive to G: When I insert the flash drive in my laptop (Windows 11 Home) which only has one drive the target for the shortcut is G: not D: If I am to use Keepass on both computers, I will need a different shortcut to use on the Laptop, but I do not know how to create this.

Any help will be most appreciated.

If the D: is taken by another drive, you must first change the letter for the other drive from D: to something else and then you can change your flash drive to D: To do these, right-click on the start button to see the Windows Tools list and from there click on Disk Management. Right-click on the disk with the D: letter and select Change drive letter. Assign any other letter (not A or B, these two are for special use). Now the D is free to use, right-click on your USB drive and select Change drive letter. Assign D.

By default when you plug in a usb it will get assigned the first available letter. If that was D: and you want it to be G:, then open Disk Management, right-click on the usb's D: partition and change the assigned letter to G:. The PC will remember that and use G: for this particular usb each time it is plugged in.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

unsupported machine: Legacy bios, MBR, TPM 1.2, upgraded from W10 to W11 using W10/W11 hybrid install media workaround. In-place upgrade to 22H2 using ISO and a workaround. Feature Update to 23H2 by manually installing the Enablement Package.

Thank you @spapakons and @Bree that worked. I don't know why I didn't think about it myself before.
