How to fix issues

1. Firefox: when right-click on a link goes direct to the page instead of given me the options

2. Windows 11 keeps rearranging the desktop icons, i tried all below methods to fix it but failed:

delete the icon cache then restart explorer

disable tablet mode

using DISM: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Hi, Welcome.

Problem 1. What sites, all sites?
Some sites code their pages to modify a browswers right-click behaviour.

You should be able to change this. However the soloution may of changed as I saved this a looong time ago.

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste context and wait while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the dom.event.contextmenu.enabled preference to switch it from true (sites can detect and re-place the right-click menu) to false (they can't).

If that doesn’t help, I am not sure what else to do, but you can hold the Cntrl key and left click on a link to open it in a new tab.

It could also be one of your Add-Ons (extensions) causing this issue. Disable them all and check again. Re-enable them one by one to see if you can find what might be changing the behaviour.

Problem 2, the Desktop is not Static like a picture hanging on the wall but Dynamic, always changing or refreshing, frequently not noticed [Refresh is on the right-click menu of the Desktop]. Since being in memory any number of things can cause changing. The amount of RAM can be an issue.

Can we have a screenshot of this settings section please?

And you’re positive you’re using a Microsoft Account and not a Local Account?
This option isn’t available with a Local Account as far as I know.

You can use an app like Icon Sheperd. This is free for personal use. I don’t know if there are restrictions on the free one.

Please type “Winver” into search on your PC and open it. Please type the version and build that it reports (you can copy/paste), into your “System Specs / OS” section (first on the list where you have placed “Windows 11”)

Like this for example: Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Build 22631.3374

It’s impossible to know if it will help with any but in terms of updates, you’re ancient.
However, there is no reason you are forced to.

I suggest making a backup image of your current OS and trying the updates?
