Although I'm subscribed to Britec09 and have watched several of their videos, there are more ways to upgrade/clean install Windows 11 without having to pay for an app.

Rufus is a free app that lets you update/upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11. The latest Rufus versions have a way to do it without problems.

A clean install using an ISO from UUPDump.net will work on a non-compliant computer without having to jump through any hoops.

Instructions for both can be found within ElevenForum posts.

I'll try to find them, but no guarantees.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

I use Ventoy for installing Linux for dual boot also handy for running Linux iso's to check them out. Just a case of drag and drop an ISO and it gets added to Ventoy's boot menu.

I've done several clean installs on older computers for my students and got no messages. For some reason, all "requirements" are bypassed with a clean install.

Using Rufus for update/upgrade to Windows 11 is supposed to work but I've never done it that way.

I've done several clean installs on older computers for my students and got no messages. For some reason, all "requirements" are bypassed with a clean install.

Using Rufus for update/upgrade to Windows 11 is supposed to work but I've never done it that way.

Not sure why this simple method for in place upgrade isn't mentioned...

1. Download Windows 11 ISO from MS
2. Mount ISO and start Setup.exe and uncheck that box for online updates
3. When the message ...this PC hardware isn't supported...
open File Explorer and go to C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources
- delete appraiser.sdb and appraiserres.dll
4. in Setup click back and then repeat selection

installs and updates with no problem

delete appraiser.sdb and appraiserres.dll
That no longer works with the latest builds, the upcoming 22H2 in particular. Now at that point you have to replace appraiserres.dll with a dummy zero length file. To make one create a new text document of the desktop, then rename it to appraiserres.dll.

Just did it today with the latest ISO from MS... RTM build, no insiders

And why don't we have a proper thread about this? You have to read gazillion pages of nonsense chit chat and nobody maintain the original first post with relevant updates...

1.)
I had Win11 22000.XXX,
took an Iso Win11 22621.X, deploy it with Explorer, turn off the Internet, change how updates are downloaded from setup, click change to "Not now", then start the setup.exe, now comes a message that the CPU or TPM not supported replace the AppraiserRes.dll in the C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources folder:
2.)
Right click on the desktop -> create a new text file named AppraiserRes.txt. Then rename it to AppraiserRes.dll
Open the folder C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources and
copy the created AppraiserRes.dll into the folder and overwrite it.
Now click on Back and then on Next again.
Now the inplace upgrade should go through without any problems.
That's how I did it, now I have the 22621.440.

But it's in german because I'm from Germany.

Here you can download german and english Iso ( Windows 11 22621.440 ), below are English.

Yes, that step is absolutely essential....

Get 11 on 'unsupported' PC via Windows Update or mounted ISO (no patching needed)

Step 1: use Skip_TPM_Check_on_Dynamic_Update.cmd to automatically bypass setup requirements
It's a set it and forget it script, with built-in undo - v7 using more reliable /Product Server trick
V9 rebased on cmd due to defender transgression; skips already patched media (0b)

Step 2: use OfflineInsiderEnroll to subscribe to the channel you want
while on 10, use BETA for Windows 11 22000.x builds (release), DEV for Windows 11 225xx.x builds (experimental)
Step 3: check for updates via Settings - Windows Update and select Upgrade to Windows 11

Get 11 on 'unsupported' PC via MediaCreationTool.bat

MediaCreationTool.bat creates 11 media that will automatically skip clean install checks
Auto Upgrade preset, or launching auto.cmd from the created media will automatically skip upgrade checks
Running setup.exe from the created media is not guaranteed to bypass setup checks (it should for now)
To NOT add bypass to the media, use MCT Defaults preset or rename the script as def MediaCreationTool.bat
Regarding the bypass method, for a more reliable and future-proof experience,
clean installation is still handled via winsetup.dll patching in boot.wim
upgrade is now handled only via auto.cmd with the /Product Server trick
Just ignore the 'Windows Server' label, please!
NEWS: temporarily added back my old-style 0-byte bypass as it still works on release

Skip_TPM_Check_on_Dynamic_Update.cmd acts globally and skips setup.exe upgrade checks as well

Already have a 11 ISO, USB or extracted Files and want to add a bypass

Works great with business / enterprise media since it comes with ei.cfg so setup won't ask for product key at start

MediaCreationTool.bat creates media that re-enables the I dont have internet OOBE choice (OOBE\BypassNRO)
It does so via AutoUnattend.xml, inserted into boot.wim to not cause setup.exe issues under windows

Should work with any 11 Release (22000.x) or Dev (22xxx.x) media - and it hides unsupported PC nags as a bonus

The Skip_TPM global script allows you to install from a mounted Windows iso. by changing it to a Windows Server and you're still actually installing Windows 11.
