Solved How to permanently keep MS GameInput uninstalled?

I don't use or want to have on my computer microsoft gameinput; doesn't matter if I try to block it from running in services, or autoruns it will re-enable itself; and if I uninstall it it will re-install itself again.
I don't use any xbox related software at all, I'm just trying to finally get rid of this bloatware that I don't use or want to have.

Any suggestions? Thanks for any answers in adv.

The reason you can't keep the Xbox Accessory Management Service (XboxGipSvc) uninstalled is because it's now included in the Monthly Update, and always be restored.

But it's possible to disable the service:
Code:
net stop XboxGipSvc
sc config XboxGipSvc start= disabled

Yes, thank you; just in my experience even if I disable a service if it's a microsoft, windows will sooner or later re-enable it. Now sure I could run the command on every startup but... Are you confident that these things won't re-enable themselves after an update? Thx

Updates aren't allowed to change a service's current start mode. Otherwise everyone would have to redo their Services settings every month.
More likely is most users get manual and disabled modes confused. Manual doesn't actually disable any services.

At least for now. But thank you for the advice.

What is it you‘re showing us?
It’s a lot more beneficial in here (where you basically got the answer from) to post whatever fixes the issues that we needed help with so as to benefit others… rather than send people off site, maybe?

To uninstall:
you can run
msiexec.exe /uninstall "{1F2B6AF3-C260-8666-5950-E3FEDBC851D6}" /q
or uninstall it inside the settings and you can delete the
"C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.GamingServices_*" folders, you won't have permission but that's not hard to do or you can look it up.

in services "services.msc" I disabled Gaming Services (just watch out that there are 2 of them with the same name) and Xbox Accessory Management Service as well. It seems that with these disabled it won't reinstall.
Or you can do it via command:
net stop XboxGipSvc
sc config XboxGipSvc start= disabled
net stop GamingServicesNet
sc config GamingServicesNet start= disabled
net stop GamingServices
sc config GamingServices start= disabled

I will update it if it reinstalls at some point in the future, but for now it seems to be good.

What I took away from @garlin ‘s help, was that these will in fact reinstall, but simply wont start with the command he supplied.

So expect them to come back, just not start?

Sorry I thought having a link to maximize the information amount is better but it's understandable if off-site links aren't preferred.
As far as today, with disabling services it didn't reinstall itself, maybe it will at some point but if within a month it won't install itself back again I think it will never do it; but I'll update this thread if that happens. I hope it will help others with the same problems. We will see.

I just disabled the Xbox Services...

Long ago I uninstalled all the Xbox entries with REVO Uninstaller (free).
So, I'll watch these Services and see if they reset themselves to Manual.

My point is if you remove the service, WU will think the update is installing a new package and sets the default preference for you. If it's an existing service, WU will update the file version but not change the disabled state.

@Davoda1 - just to be sure, you ran both commands, correct? If it is running already, have to first stop it before you can disable it.

I'll wait for an update to try out, but as a curiosity I looked it up with the new chatGPT BS and as an answer I got that it WU will set the start back to automatic after an update. And I have tried removing it as well, and it just reinstalls itself anyway. IDK maybe crapgpt waws wrong (so nothing new) but it's just frustrating how they little by little remove any resemblance of control we have over the OS

Yes, I could set it to disabled with the registry but if I didn't have to use Windows for the software I need (and even if it's a WM I'd have to deal with windows anyway) I would. I just hate what this once great OS has become.

Removing it guarantees it will be re-installed (and reset to default settings).

With disabling it, it's one less thing it needs to install during updates, but some updates it also may not actually reset from disabled, so it is definitely the better way to go about doing it.

Save the commands into a batch file that you can run when you want - or even set up a task scheduler event that always runs it at boot, and you should be fine then.

And, no I was not talking about via the registry. I was talking specifically about:

But it's possible to disable the service:
Code:
net stop XboxGipSvc
sc config XboxGipSvc start= disabled

That is run in a CMD shell. Hence why I suggest putting both commands into a batch file that you can run whenever you want, or, like I said, set as a scheduled task (via Task Scheduler) to run always when you log in, for example.

I know, but with the latest update it has disabled the ability to get GamingServices and GamingServicesNet disabled via console/services.msc/any method outside of registry. Now sure, anyone can make a reg file and set it to run on boot, that is not the main issue that I couldn't make these autorun stuff to get it done.

The MAIN issue is how I HAVE TO do these things if I want to use MY PC

The issue is that you pay for an OS and you don't even have the ability to do basic rubbish without some workaround..

"I don't use or want to have on my computer microsoft gameinput;" - So you don't want to use or allow apps to use mouse, keyboard, joystick, touch controls, haptics, gamepad, racing wheels, or motion sensors? Because that's what you're saying.
