How to stop selecting of hidden window?

So I have a window open and maximized. I then open a second program maximized too, and it's now overtop of the first. When I select the very top of the window to drag it somewhere (like a second monitor) it selects the first window under it, not the second window/app right in front of me. How do I stop this insanity?

That doesn't work, now I can move either window at all when maximized. I just want to grab the visible window to another monitor, yet it grabs the window under it.

At a guess, I’d suggest that the front window isn’t as large as the rear and you’re mistakenly grabbing the rear window instead.

Are you saying you can’t replicate it because it doesn’t happen all the time?

I've seen a similar issue using a single monitor and it seems to be all about the accuracy of the pointer when moving the mouse over the edge of a desired window. Maybe the settings for the mouse have a play in the issue?

No, its 100% a feature (not a bug) of windows 11. both windows are max. but it grabs the one behind it but only if I click at the very top of the screen. i hate it.

Have you tried.... not doing that? The title bar of the window is rather thick compared to the hot zone of the cursor. Just grab somewhere in the title bar, rather than the very top.

For what it's worth, I'm not able to re-create this scenario on any Win11 machine I've used today.

It isn’t a feature, friend, it’s a bug. There is zero documentation that I can find at Microsoft that states there is a feature that does this.

I have 6 monitors on my desk, this doesn’t happen on any of them.
- What exactly are the programs open that this happens to?

Try manipulating the DPI scaling in the properties of the offending program/s

I was reading some comments re the scaling aspect on Github but the problem with it is that scaling affects everything, adjusting the DPI of a single program doesn’t. That’s if adjusting the DPI of an offending program works. I can’t replicate the bug to test anything.

So far, I only have the one app, (foobar), that it affects, when the mouse pointer is hard against the screen edge.
However, there are other apps that won't drag either, when pointer is hard against the screen edge. Weird!

it is really weird.

I’ll be interested to hear what Apps/Software (if any in particular) that kenw232 is having problems with. So far, I have seen mentioned Foobar and Audacity? I have Audacity, but it isn’t happening.

Me neither. Only foobar, so far...,
And..., it only happens when there is another app open, maximized behind it, doesn't happen when the Desktop is clean behind it! 🤷‍♂️

sorry, I can't reproduce it on demand. I've seen it happen with different apps like Word and Notepad. It's a combination of events - like when two apps are maximized on the second monitor, I'm focused on a third app on the first monitor, but I quickly shoot my mouse to the very top of the window bar of the app on the second monitor to shoot it over to the first and it will select the app (eg. notepad) under it (eg. word).

I do use scaling and different font sizes for my UI.
